Purely from the excerpt maichirex provided, IMO it's in a gray area... The WN only talks about his actions which is blatantly incomplete information.

Code:
Scynix said: She has no choice in the matter
The author not saying she had a choice or not is not equivalent to her not having a choice. Neutral =/= Negative.

@Scynix you are probably right in your thought, but right to the chapter 4 its said that she become sex slave so it was to be expected
My thought is, it wont change who (male) did buy her, she most likely have the same end, its better be with Michio than you know who right? about the other slaves, it might be that they ride on the flow, seeing how Roxxane was cherished
Tell the true, I did feel that the MC was forceful with his slaves but only the latest did give me the feeling of rape (no more comment to not spoil)
About if have difference of LN and manga I can't say anything since didn't have read it, only WN, but I think they have made it lighter on manga thinking of the range (age) of the public that will access their material, still weird with all that boobs show, but hey it will be really boring if you take every thing from it
Even Japan have a little of restrain on few topics, the most clear proof of this is the Ryuga Seal 卍 (Manji "swastika") from Naruto, its an ancient symbol but sadly most people associate with nazis, well this comment was a bit of topic, but you can get the overall idea with this

@JustNatsuki Context matters though. Just as @megavirus mentions, she was basically going to end up a sex slave either way. We don't need the author to specify it wasn't her choice when she's a slave that has to obey anything her owner does. Actually, it would have made a huge difference if he had shown he wanted to be with her but only if she agreed. Though it's a really common trope (nice guy buys slaves/frees them) it still would have molded the mc's personality from the readers view.

From MY perspective, it's damn close to rape if not already being rape. I digress, since there's really no way to know what the author was intending. Unless the omission was the intention? Hmm.

@megavirus I completely agree in that regard. The MC at least seems to not treat her as a toy. I see what you mean in regards to the symbol, too. I suppose that's why I was wondering who makes those decisions. I've wondered for a while, but between this series and daydreamer I finally decided to just ask my fellow readers. Thanks for the info though, you did clear some things up for me. =)

@Scynix I see what you're saying, and I agree with it somewhat. Would I call it rape? No. But would I call it sexual negligence? Yeah, definitely.

Code:
Scynix said: "I digress, since there's really no way to know what the author was intending."
There is a way though, you know, asking the author what they were intending.

Code:
Scynix said: "Context matters though...The MC at least seems to not treat her as a toy."
There's also the context where the MC treats her less like a sex slave and more as a human being. If we assume that sex slaves in this different world have to obey anything their owner asks, then we can also assume that MC got her consent if he doesn't treat her like a sex slave. That part is pretty much up to subjective interpretation.

@JustNatsuki and @Scynix we'll get no where on this, this is just my speculation, its about common sense, to us it might be rape or harassment but to them it might be normal
If you look back history [Genghis Khan] did a lot claiming was his right, was not rape in his mind but the reward for the winner, even the losers knew it so womens of time choose to die/suicide to have that end, well that was was the common sense back there, a bit of the topic; and today we enjoy eating bacon but try share it with a muslin and you will see what will happens, for me is outdated belief, but that's their way.
In the end, we can't say what is right or wrong when refer to isekai traditions with our way of thinking, that is what I believe.

@JustNatsuki I apologize profusely then, I wasn't aware you could actually ask manga authors something like that. I wouldn't even know how to go about doing it honestly. I don't think I need to at this point, both you and @megavirus have made excellent points and provided me with a different perspective I hadn't considered.

I hadn't actually considered thinking about it from the perspective of being IN that world, as you've both mentioned. That definitely would explain the almost "natural" way the behavior is depicted.
I really appreciate your responses, I don't think I would have ever really thought of that on my own. In retrospect, it seems like something obvious. The novel really stuck my mind in a certain perspective.

I really appreciate the serious responses. People usually think that kind of confusion or question about the writing is trying to be negative or derogatory, which was never my intention.

Now I'm gonna have to go back and re--read other isekai that I had stopped and reconsider the perspective in those too.

@JustNatsuki, nah. Nothing grey about buying a slave to just fuck it. His main goal for the first chapters was basically "gotta get my dick wet". He took almost no time building rapport with her either. Is he nice to her? Sure but she's basically a pet you can fuck let us not kid ourselves here.

Can we also just appreciate that for all its flaws, this manga has some pretty decent art, both in environment and character models.

Yikes! How on earth did this get a manga? What I remember from the WN is it essentially reads like a report of daily chores meshed with incel wish fulfillment.

@Tosher
The translation group that did those chapters violated Mangadex's ToS so a lot of their stuff got taken down.

@Pyro411
You just described almost every Isekai manga with a male protagonist. This manga is a lot more laid back and is definately quicker to the wishfullfilment part of the genre.
Isekai as a whole is usually synonymous with the incel/otaku shut in power fantasy with very very rare exceptions, so let's not kid ourselves on why we read this.
Either way the manga has been a better read than translations I've seen of the Web Novel, at the very least it flows a lot better and isn't as much a chore to read but that might be because the difference in medium.

slaves can't exactly say no to their owners, so the power dynamics mean that any consent she might give is coerced, and coerced consent is not valid consent. fucking a slave (or an inmate, or a subordinate, or a student, etc, that you have power or authority over) is always rape

but this issue is sidestepped by the fact that property doesn't have rights, and in that society it's acceptable for people to become property. the whole concept of consent is a derivative of self-ownership - if you don't own yourself, you have no authority or sovereignty over your own body

so, it is rape, because she literally cannot give consent, but not recognized as such by that society
