@Beregorn I think he's referring to part of the saying that old D&D player had for munchkins. Used to tie things to the end of a 10 foot pole item to give extra distance in order to pre-trigger traps while being out of their 10 foot effect range. There were also other ways to use it like checking for depth in pits or pools of unknown liquid substances. The pole was the best item in the game! It ended up becoming synonymous with a player that would be hard for a GM to handle because they basically munchkin'd their way through the dungeon.
