looks like a classic case of novel adaptation ending, while the webnovel continues
No, this only goes to riiiight abou volume 10, but there were plot point cut out from the Manga that were in the Light novels. I think they just wanted to explore the family dynamics with this adaptation. Sucks that we didn't get to see his relationship with Ai Fa advance. There were plot lines with the machinations of the nobles in town that started before the Silver Jar merchants left town that were totally skipped. J-novel club has the first three volumes available for their subscription service so I'm probably going to see if I like the writing style and maybe buy the lot. Note: Volume 34 is currently about to come out in English, so the Manga only covered about 1/3 of what's currently published and translated.

what a disappointing ending, but i guess that's just how it goes when shit gets axed. it's always the nice series that get this treatment, meanwhile bullshit like kanokari gets its fifth anime season. i will never understand what goes on in the heads of the japanese.
There are so many good series that get axed before chapter 20 and then there's a bunch of series that are absolute garbage but get hundreds of chapters. I don't think I'll ever be able to understand what's going on than the mines of the Japanese.

2. Why the end? Did it really end(get axed)? all other sources i can gather it seems to be continuing.
so I guess this is over??
Wait, that's it? Huh...
Axed? if so the END so underwhelming!!! :aquadrink:
Axed? Really?
Nooooo! Seriously!?
Thats.... thats it??
Is it really finished???
Idk if anyone can provide the source of this being cancelled but such a shame that this is the best ending it could get.
There is 'おわリ'/'owari'/'the end' on the last page of this chapter on NicoNico (I don't know what the red text on the sides means) and there're many comments about the end of it (I know it thanks to Google Translate).

I haven't read this in a long time, and just saw it ended, did they change artists mid way?
Maybe they've had problems for a while?
They didn't. The artist worked and works on original stories of his own for a couple of different publishers, so this kind of makes me think that the art degradation in here for Hobby Japan's title was intentional. Especially, after I've checked Bookwalker's demo-versions of volumes of his recent works :haa:

the cancellation is strong...
welp, in the end, there was absolutely nothing about his past life story...
sad knife-kun gone forgotten after his story being out...

PS: new comment system is meh: no formatting, no emojis, no file upload, not wide enough, no edit, no notification (since no working answer button yet)

Well at least the story didn't end, just the manga. Also can you please spoil me, do they get married?
So, the LN follows the WN basically 1 volume to 1 volume. There are 99 volumes total of the WN. Guess what it ends on.

It frankly amazes me that this manga went on for 73 chapters with basically nothing of consequence happening for most of it for some time now.

It's like "Nothing Ever Happens™ - The Manga." Which, I shouldn't really be surprised, because I gave up reading the WN for many of the same reasons. It was a whole lot of nothing happening for way too long.

thanks for the chapter! Sad to see it'll go, but it's been cozy few years.

I enjoyed the beginning a lot, lots of issues trying to figure out food- cultural differences! Like how they wanted tough meat because that's how you'd prove you could survive or whatever. I think all of that vanished and I've been sitting, reading, and waiting for anything like that to be reintroduced. I guess the WN keeps going but this adaptation felt like a failure in terms of pacing after the conclusion of the first major arc.
