I don't understand the thought process that snipers go through on a manga that receives fairly regular updates. Especially when they choose to offer a MTL translation, low effort typesetting, and little to no editing or proofreading. Why waste your time like that? Why not choose something that's untranslated, or has been dropped by a previous group?

Because they want to scanlate a popular manga. And what's a very important factor in popularity? Regular updates.
