wow, this sure went 180 fast... in just like 2 chaps or less XD!! Good to see it digging deep into mature topics, really tired of the general Shounen shtick about morality, friendship, love, etc... everything is cut clean and dry, business is business and things are what they are. Thought they would never dwell into it seeing the past few chapters, but I am glad they are dipping their feet into it now... So, now we just need longer chapters or more frequent updates XD!!!

Also, you are telling me that Sansui or Suiboku could not beat that Shun + Pandora combo, just because they are "100%" compatible... that's a joke right... like... wtf? That girly is high on her nude parades 😩👌

@xSauriaNx The knight/samurai analogy works only if Sansui was a normal guy. Real knights/samurai can only do so much to survive. Sansui isn't like them though, and honestly with how superhuman he actually is he could make his own household with servants to take care of the kid from scratch (or even just live normally settling in a random town/ adventuring with the kid tagging along) . All these superhumans are way too powerful to just arbitrarily serve under some schmucks that don't even inspire any loyalty or worthiness to wield their powers.

Pretty good chapter. Anyone who doesn't at least understand why the MC would do what he is doing either has poor reading comprehension or is immature. Honestly, reading some of these comments reminds me why I don't tell my friends and family I like reading manga; some of y'all are morons, and I don't want to be associated with the dumb shit that surely comes out of your mouths in the real world in any way.

This story is a slice of life more than anything else and seems to be written really lightheartedly, but it's still very enjoyable.
Also, it's nice to see a story where the characters can kill people that deserve it, while not being regarded as demons or something like that. What needs to be done, needs to be done.

Sadly, manga doesn't show MC's thought more often. Like how he greatly cherish his daughter or how his feeling on the matter of the duel with saiga.

Here's a quote from the LN after the second fight with saiga,
Yet, I wonder what right I have to criticize someone who walks a different path from me. I’m a mere bodyguard, after all. Should I be criticizing a man who will marry into one of the Four Great Houses?
“Tch, seems I still need more training.”
I’m noticing people’s flaws because I want to position myself above them, to view them as inferior. That’s not the same as practice, but it tricks me into believing that I’m bigger than I am. Other people are just that: other people. I need to focus on my own flaws. It’s an observation I keep to myself; I can’t imagine it going over well with Lady Douve.

@kenar Yeah, I think I'd find it much more enjoyable if they actually included some more of his thought processes. Right now he just seems like a doll that kills things at the mistress's order. Not as much personality to him as he had in the beginning.

@CountryMage : Not quite right on the empathy side, but not entirely wrong either.
Empathy is an autonomous emotional reaction to the perceived emotional states of others, proportional to their relatability.
e.g. Your mother is sad, you become sad. Your partner is happy, you become happy. A slug is angry, you don't react because you can't relate to it. Your archenemy is happy, you become angry because their relatability is negative.

i.e. Roughly speaking, if you relate positively to someone or something you'll mimic what they feel, if you don't relate to them you won't feel anything at all, and if you relate negatively to them you'll display the opposite of what their emotional state appears to be.

Unfortunately people seem to believe that empathy can help them relate to things... but that is bullshit. Being able to relate to others is a prerequisite for it to function in the first place. And wanting to punch someone's face in because they're laughing at you is a result OF empathy, rather than a lack thereof.

As for sympathy... so far as I can gather, that is just the positive-response subset of empathy.

@SotiCoto sympathy isn't only positive, you can sympathetically feel all kinds of things, but sympathy is still "someone else" feels this, i should feel this.

@CountryMage : You're not understanding. I'm talking about positive correlation, not "positive" emotions. As in it mirrors the other, not its inverse. i.e. The whole "I'm happy because my friend is happy" minus the "I'm angry because my enemy is happy" and "I didn't even notice the rat was angry".
That being because "sym" is "with" ... as opposed to being against or independent of.

Yasuri Shichika from Katanagatari is a damn good comparison, in fact!
Sanzui is just as eerily indifferent when he kills.

@danberhe Well, it's mainly the MC being a complete scum-bag. I really hate the direction this went, so I'll be dropping this... Just to get my two cents out there though. He's considered the "strongest swordsman" while being half a century old. He's letting a literal child order him around, because they are "safe-guarding" Rain. What's the point of being the "strongest" if you can't safe guard your own child, he's nothing more than a servant. Ugh, the potential this had is completely ruined with this one chapter. I'm not saying he's should of did what that guy that concurred the Domino Empire alone... However, he's strong enough that he could of made a living for himself and Rain, the whole "being ignorant of the ways of the world" was a good reason for him to work under Dewey, but that can only be milked so much.

I think you guys are over estimating or doesn't understand sansui's strengths.

Sansui doesn't have any knowledge of how royal society and schemes work, HE ONLY KNOWS HOW TO HOLD A SWORD
Sansui probably doesn't remember much maths or school teachings after he swung his sword for 1000 years, HE ONLY KNOWS HOW TO HOLD A SWORD
and because sansui doesn't have enough knowledge to properly teach rain, by being under the wing of the mistress she can get a good education that he himself cannot give, HE. ONLY. KNOWS. HOW. TO. HOLD. A. SWORD.

He isn't some 1000 IQ MC that can make an entire empire or open up a shop, if he didn't meet the mistress, he would have probably just have been a sword for hire, WHICH IS ALOT WORSE.

And i really don't see the problem with the mistress? Yeah her way of talking and her actions are selfish, but she cares for rain and the people around her in her own way.
Also sansui bowing to her mistress and apologising when she has a complaint is just normal retainer behavior?

I hope people read what pantsukami said. In a previous chapter one of the ladies asked the MC's boss as to why the strongest person alive (after MC's master) is listening to her and you should read what she said properly. Cuz she's protecting his family and giving his family what mc couldn't (a safe home with love, good food and education. Especially education) is why MC is loyal to her.

Why are people complaining about MC behavior? He's only know how to use sword, and His only purpose was to become the strongest in the world. He didn't decide how He will live his life. He just want to be stronger, since chapter 1.

But I guess there are 2 reasons why you guys hate MC, one: your reading comprehensive is poor, and two: immature.
