Good stuff, nice early 00's vibe to it. I wonder if the manga could have started with this arc, may well have had more success. Even so, he's given himself a lot of freedom now to do as he pleases after the timeskip, so this could be great. Make the characters look a bit less bland (man in suit #12), take care of the storywriting and I can legit see this becoming a big 3 manga.

I love this series but it has the highest percentage of “I don’t even know what’s going on in this panel/Who even is that character?” of any manga I’m reading

I am loving this flashback. Action sequences are obviously important but world building is what makes me stick with series/games. I agree that this could really make it big, especially if the eventual third part brings everything together satisfyingly and doesn’t drag it out too long.

I get that for a rare material and in a world where swords are a main weapon, you'd want to make a sword from the super material. That said: if it reacts to spirit energy and is found in small amounts isnt that perfect to make bullets? Or like bomb collars to prevent anyone from using sorcery. It actually sounds perfect to make energy similar to nuclear. Aside from death collars our uses for uranium are basically the same (bombs, ammo, and energy) so maybe we'll see other uses for datenseki aside from swords unless i forgot already.

One, guns don't seem to be really huge in the Kagurabachi world. May it be because of restrictions (The PM Method) or because of sorcery making it unnecessary (the Usual). I know it was stated (may be remembering wrong) but I just don't remember where

Two, you lose bullets regularly. You can use a magical katana indefinitely. You don't want to lose precious rocks
