In a world where you still have to clean by hand a cheap laundry service is great.
Also it is 100% cleaned by slimes, that is pure profit.

This manga is weird with it's realism.

The laundry business is a really good idea for a pre-modern society. IRL it used to be a massive business that employed a lot of women and those household that did it themselves had the women devote about 2 whole days, from morning to evening, every week to get the laundry done. It's a good idea for making money, but if the society anything like those found on pre-modern Earth it will make a lot of people unemployed.

On the other hand, limestone plaster and whitewash was super common before modernity. It was used almost everywhere and even cavemen knew how to make and use it. It's quite unrealistic that it's not commonly used in the manga. Medieval Europe, for example, had almost all of it's stone building whitewashed, even the castles, and a lot of wooden buildings as well.

Also, building a stone house like that in a week by himself is a bit ridiculous. Something like that would take a team of skilled builders the better part of a year to build. Especially without modern equipment. For get the laundromat, he could make bank just by building houses. Especially since his work quality is supposed to be superior as well.

He didnt build it by himself
He has an army of slime. A tireless, mindlinked, army. WITH ability for self-learning
They're even better than robots
Probably 70% of the building time was wasted on designs and choosing materials *lol*

@X3h0n People bring this sort of thing up all the time but why would we assume that every single discovery happens in the exact same order as it did on Earth? Aside from the authors always just trying to show off their character's ingenuity in a world that's generally lacking in various ways to allow for that more easily, it's just strange to think that everything would go so similarly in a world with stuff like magic advancing alongside but much faster than the science end of things.

A step here or there skipped because a spell already exists to do this or that would potentially happen enough that what's really strange is that any of these worlds are as similar to our own as they are. Which direction the development goes all comes down to the author's decisions in the end either way, and I mean most of the authors of stuff like this aren't exactly experts in the variety of things they have to cover at the end of the day, but what should really strike us as strange more often than not is the similarities. If in cases like this, we can pretty much blame the gods for all of that, then perhaps we just blame them for the differences too.

It's a valid complaint that the authors don't put in enough research time for world building when they're basically copying our own version of humanity and adding twists to it, but we also generally know what we're getting into when we read isekai, don't we? A lot of these writers are amateurs that got a web novel picked up for actual publication through contests online. That was how this whole isekai boom started, and it's shaped a whole genre around it. Most of the tropes are clumsy and unwieldy tools to be used by unsteady hands.

What exactly allowed him to do that doesn't really change the point. More over, if it was mostly the slimes, he could probably build a whole district within a month assuming he has no shortage of materials. That alone would probably make him more money than most nobles have and give him a large amount of passive income. A month to earn all the money he needs for the rest of his life. It's crazy.

@Glomoro
I mostly agree with you and seeing creative world building is definitely one of the draws of isekai and fantasy in general. I'm not looking for a copy of the real world, but I couldn't just not remark on how strangely half-arsed the research for creating this world has been. The author opened up a encyclopedia on limestone, read that it's used for making steel and knew that it can be used for making white paint, but didn't bother to read the introduction where it says that limestone has been used for white paint since prehistoric times and that it's about as mundane as mixing some brittle limestone with some water and throwing it on a surface which would turn white once it dries. Any society that has figured out using limestone for steel making will know it can be used for white paint and will use it for that baring a better alternative because of it abundance. They'd figure out it's usefulness as paint way before it's usefulness as a moderator in steel making because it's would just happen by accident. It's like not knowing that water is wet, but still using it to wash yourself. It makes no sense. Some inventions cannot happen in reverse order.

If this series run long enough these slimes will be the most powerful creatures in the world and MC got an army of them.
