the story for this chapter is adequate, but it unfortunately places 'road safety' responsibility on the people not in motor vehicles. the scene accepts that it is normal that there drivers will not pay attention, in a school zone, while it's raining.
That's a pretty big reach.
For one we didn't see any school zone signs, and it'd be perfectly reasonable for the area where you could see a bunch of kids walking to a school to extend beyond the actual school zone.
For two there was only
one ghost, it wasn't wearing boots, and it showed up at
multiple crosswalks. So the ghost could have died a while ago after being hit at a completely different crosswalk in completely different weather conditions.
Also it's totally possible to acknowledge that drivers are responsible for not hitting pedestrians while also acknowledging that car accidents still happen all the time, that a car doesn't have to be going that fast to body a little kid, and that paying attention to where you're going can help keep you safe.
