Nah being this upset about shit that happened in middle school when you’re damn near in college is kinda mental
Unresolved guilt (and trauma too) don't just go away with time, you've gotta work through that shit, and he's done none of it. It's literally mental, bad mental health that is. He's gonna keep hurting her and any other girls he dates until he does that work.

Ryuuto's making a mistake pushing them back together without getting him to sort that shit out first, but he's a young, extremely introverted kid just barely starting to break out of his shell, so can't expect him to know any better.

I don’t think it’s going to be that easy for them in the end, but it’s a good first step. Him leaving at that time led to a lot of bad shit and bad decisions for her so he’s got a lot of work to do.

I’m glad we can hopefully get back to the main couple’s issues now though, I wasn’t enjoying this detour.

And here starts the worst arc of the series (in my opinion). After the fact that Nicole took this guy back who dated her for 2 weeks in middle school and broke up with her only to get back with her and then break up with her in an even shorter time AND THEN has the audacity to give Ryuto shit for the tiniest things in his relationship is appalling.

Poor Itchi too, brother gonna go through his redpill stage severely. Runa's relationship with Ryuto is gonna take a MASSIVE nosedive too for 0 reason as well. Overall it's gonna suck

All things said, you have to give the man credit for outright acknowledging his chuuni phase. No denial whatsoever.

Thanks for the warning. I think I’ll put this on hold for a while. With the slow release cycle it might have to be a year :(

I could probably agree, but at the same time a monthly released series doesn't have a whole lot of luxury of not progressing the plot in any given chapter -- so any given conflict is likely to be introduced & resolved within 2 chapters, or risk losing the audience's interest.
That mostly isn't true, tho? A well-written, monthly series with proper drama can have it span as many chapters as it wants. Not saying this series sucks, I did read it for 23chps but the drama falls flat/is as forced as can be and finishing it instantly is the only choice in this particular case.

Also, slightly worse than average written series can also drag drama as long as they want without pissing off readers as long as it is well liked like dress up darling (monthly for a while now). There were about one and a half (1.5) progress chapters in the last ~ten (10!) released chapters. But the series has to be HUGE from early on to be allowed to do that. So doesn't really apply here but still makes the "monthly manga need to solve everything instantly" point moot.

Don't you hate those roving bands of rapists that are infesting Japanese high schools?
