I guess the thing with Asher thinking of Siegfried with -sama then -dono is a change in how formal or esteemedly he's referring to him? Sama usually feel like it is done for people in higher positions or with more recognition than oneself, while dono is used among peers from what I'm parsing RN on how I've read and listened to it being used.
So basically using -sama initially since he's putting himself down, then -dono since he doesn't feel like continuing to put Siegfried above himself...or something? That'd be my guess over why the switch.
