What's with Kana and sacrificing herself? I'm so confused. She loves Riku and wants to date him but also considers it sacrificing herself to date him? What? She wants Ayana and Riku to not be together because of their history, so surely the outcome she wants is also the best outcome? She dates Riku and she loves him? Or is it sacrificing herself because she will always know Riku is dating her as a substitute for Ayana, even if he comes to love Kana later? Idk

Also yeah, smart thinking Ayana; "I caused deaths in the past, therefore I will kill myself, because that will undo the deaths." I could understand that thinking if like, she was still causing deaths or her actions were making people risk their lives or something, but it makes no sense in this situation. (Which actually now I've typed that, that's just par for the course with this story, so I guess it completely fits!)

This is some stageplay levels of drama now. For a second the MC made a tiny lick of sense during the undressing. I guess it takes a real clown to get the jester to pick up his act even if for a moment.

It was quite a while since the last chapter, but reading this I felt there was another dumpster bursting into flames somewhere in this world.
I feel sorry for Kana, but it is what it is. And here it is, something serious is about to happen I hope they manage to get off the cringe even for a moment and take action before things get worse - also hopefully they chuck Ayana to get some help from a specialist afterwards.

I WISH Kana was drunk as the root cause of this drama scene happening. But she's not. The hamfisted execution of the drama just made it cringy even when the protagonist's words make sense. Should I be glad the writing didn't go full trashy and actually have them do the deed before chasing Ayana? Then again, if this was written in maybe high school or middle school as I suspected, it makes some sense why it doesn't. Self-harm leading to attempted suicide for Ayana is pretty much on the menu next. I don't suppose there's a checklist of tropes somewhere the writer is attempting to complete?

Maybe I really should be marveling at how this had some interesting story ingredients to start with and they just managed to cook something terrible with it. It's kinda fun to imagine what if, the reason for this story existing at all is that the editor/publishing company may have asked the author for something else to publish to fill some kind of publishing slot, and in desperation they were forced to dig up some old fic from their student days. It just beggars belief that this was written by a professional author. And their other story isn't rated as badly as this.

And wow, Haruno actually got 2 depictions and 2 mentions this chapter. The writer finally remembered she existed! Sadly the current her is just a pile of bones under the sea now...
