Personally I think Kokurou would have been a better character if he was kind of a violent power-seeking lunatic to begin with instead of this.

The author made him into some sort of a “victim” (which he’s not) to a situation that turned him 180 in the flip of a switch, which is kinda shoddy character building.

I’d rather see Kokurou having a legit rivalry gone wrong backstory with the beast king as a character development, which feels like a more sensible development.
All that needed to change would be kokurou wanting to get the herb, and literally anyone else stopping him. That alone is 10,000 times more substance

me debating to myself if i should really just drop this because i don't give a flying shit who is who that is not in any way connected to the mc and this backstory bs is just a waste of page considering i'm gonna wait again just for another story about a fucking midget when all i want to read about is mc's journey.

"Don't worry, we'll definitely save Nerei!"

-Next Page-

"In the end, we couldn't save Nerei"

Idk why but that poor timing turned a sad moment into a comical scene. 🤣

Just because Kokurou had a painfully tragic past doesn't mean he's excused for becoming a monster and murderer. It makes his rampage believable, but also all the more that he should be put down like the mad beast he has become. His crazed revenge will not bring his sister Nerei back to life.
isn't it supposed to be step-brother instead of brother-in-law? idk i'm dumb :nyoron:
You are correct. Rather than brother-in-law, the correct English translation for Kokurou's relation to queen Bransa should be stepbrother.

This is because in Japanese, 義兄 "gikei" or 義理の兄 "giri no ani" are two terms that could either mean "brother-in-law" or "stepbrother" depending on context. If either term was used in the raws, then brother-in-law is definitely a translation error; especially since we know Kokurou and his sister were adopted by queen Bransa's father, making him her stepbrother and not her brother-in-law.

Yeah, sure, they didn't cultivate it or keep enough doses for the royal family in case something were to you happen. You know, the glue holding the country together and therefore critical to its unity and survival.

Darwin Award.
