@Kaarme "I don't honestly see why the demons would ever agree to enter any strange places. The meeting should happen on open ground right next to the border. That would be the only sensible way of doing it as long as neutral territory isn't available. Anything else would suggest the demon lord is even more naive than I thought, and I already think she's too naive."
That's because that place is no "strange place" that place itself was the place where the former peace talks happened before, the same place where Demons betrayed their words and attacked both humans and beastmen. This time the place was fortified with measure to prevent such a thing from happening again. Eveam had no choice but to accept the terms because she is in the unfavorable position of a former liar(technically she wasn't related to the event but she represents the people who were indeed behind it). She needs to show that her intentions are true, so being "smart" and not showing up is actually the same as being a cowardly traitor in the eyes of the humans who were already betrayed once. She's not really naive, rather she is someone trying to be a good, responsible leader.
The demons are in a position similar to that of the Germans after world war two, they are trying to rebuild the country and reestabilish relationship with the nearby countries, however they have to work hard to acchieve that and earn the trust of their former enemies. They don't have the luxury of being able to choose favorable or neutral positions in these peace talks.

@BloodySorcerer Maybe I'm remembering it totally wrong, but aren't the demons, at least on paper, the strongest of the three nations? They are most definitely not like the post-war Germans, who were beaten and had to surrender more or less unconditionally (just like the Japanese), thus automatically needing to accept whatever terms the winners dictated to them. The demons merely had a change of government and the new goverment would rather not suppress the neighbours. Sure, like you said, they probably need to make some amends to convince anyone after the previous betrayal, but they aren't forced to do anything, unless it's what they willingly are ready to do.

So they just keep an important contract under the counter at a restaurant in case someone would need it...

The bar is likely an intelligence agency outpost as many are in real life and in fiction. The bartender likely works for the demon king and she is there not just for food but also to receive intelligence update on street-level gossip.

Having magic binding contracts on hand is useful for ensuring some secrecy among tattle tellers.

Good thing I was holding on to my No U card and Uno Reverse Card while reading.
