Is this what you're talking about? Get your eyes checked it looks nothing like a modern gun.

The scope is literally a glorified magnifying glass, that's not a suppressor it's a recoil compensator, modern? it's a metal frame made of brass and definitely isn't stamped steel nor has any plastic, polyesters? what are you on about the entire thing is made of metal.
Wait are you actually arguing that's not a modern rifle? OMG HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

The point of the gun thing is that it's not like an actual gun model from real life, or too closely resemble one.
You won't get the whiplash of reading a fantasy series and suddenly seeing Barrett M82 or something.
Ah no that is definitely looking like a L1A1 or other SLR rifles......

Is no one gonna talk about Sana is actually pretty smart? Like we already seen how well she handles the info from the guide book, but here we see Sana using both her talking skills and her deductive skills. She even found an opportunity to promote her own shop too

Oh sorry thought you were being serious " Is this what you're talking about? Get your eyes checked it looks nothing like a modern gun.

I read this thinking you meant it seriously.

I wonder if that modern gun is hinting at a post apocolyptic setting and the weapon is a relic?
I take the existence of the Guidebook to mean Sana lives in a simulation/game. So when I saw the gun, I thought that Macmosa might be a Dev trying to ensure the simulation is going as planned, or maybe even attempting to stir these simulated peoples conscience. Because it seems that only Sana has a free will at the moment. If everyone had a free will, then everyone would be able to change the future and render the guidebook useless/outdated. Unless, of course, the guidebook updates when the future is changed, in which case everyone very well may have a free will.

Plus, a Dev would be able to spawn in with any weapon, regardless of the time period. So why not a gun, especially if no-one else has one/knows of them. Makes you OP, and seem like a mysterious person with supernatural weaponry.

More likely a videogame hidden playable character, like he probably mentors the hero and then you don't see him anymore, unless you go through the chain quest that reveals he's actually a reincarnator from Japan looking for people with special skills, trying to find one that can send him home.

I like that, except for the scope not matching. There's no reason for Macmosa to use two awesome flip-up lenses in a fantasy mismatch with the gun, plus maybe a spell on his eyes, in place of a zoomable scope. Stands to reason that making a hardy zoomable scope is more difficult than a rifle, which makes it feel grounded in the setting. Final Fantasy mixes tech levels anyways.

Guns in a fantasy JRPG is what you guys are shocked about? Not the buff potion that is actually useful if not overpowered?
Guns you can shrug off with ancient civ stuff that fantasy jrpgs always have. But the OP potion? Devs will get fired for not putting that in DLC/microtransaction shop.

Yeah but not too much, although that can be because lack of detail but It's still more allusion rather than a straight usage of the design.
I can retract my statement if in the following chapters we have a better look at the rifle and they do just straight ripped a real design, but hey I'm using the the current chapter for today's comment.

I assume they slightly changed one of the SLR's to avoid copywrite, Japan is no joke on that kinda stuff as theres no fair use there. It's why alot of series in manga and the like use russian firearms since they are free game.

I don't think they really care about the copywrite as long they don't have any comments about it or portray it in certain ways (There are a lot of Animes that use American or other designs, they just don't make too much note of it).
As for the Russian firearm usage, it might be because Russia is just way closer compared to a lot of other countries that are notorious for guns.

Just ignore him. That moron seriously thinks a rifle with a muzzle break and gas-operated magazine-fed chamber is something comparable to a brass plated, front loaded musket.

Obviously the lore and worldbuilding of this manga isn't it's strong point and not deep enough to make sense of that stuff. "This is a game world, don't think about it too hard" is probably the best explanation we will get.

Just stop before you embarrass yourself even more.
