I hate it when good stories introduce dumb characters all of a sudden. The stereotypical greedy noble has literally nothing to gain by attacking a guy that's proven himself to be the strongest, and his excuse "he could seize the throne if he wanted" makes no sense precisely because he probably could do it, but has chosen not to anyway.
Not dumb, just doesn't have full info on things.
If he wants to usurp the throne then anything that can get into way of his plans is a threat. What you do with threats? Destroy it. Because Alan has fame and he is a noble then it needs to be done silently or in a way that won't connect it with him.
He knows exactly Alan is after the crown which doesn't make him stupid, rather clever instead.

Also king makes a good decision, because he counts on Alan's gratitude for helping him. In CK3 it's those who you appoint directly and give them title who are the most loyal, the older ones don't like the new kings and want to revolt 😉

Ah yes the Idiotic common sense of :
"We need hero to kill the demon lord"
"Now the demon lord is dead, kill the hero so he won't be a detriment to my rule"

Like, dude You try to assassinate someone who is Immune to poison and capable of destroying a kingdom with just a swing of their hand?

You sure your head is is still working fine

Awesome. Well, he needs to accelerate the modernization of the planet if he wants to give the Bugs a fight. Ideally, some ex-machina let's him somehow build that reactor in orbit that's not possible right now.

quite unfortunate but history has told that there're lots of dumbasses in politics. even in overlord there was that moron of a baron that lusted for albedo, the only difference is that overlord introduces capable characters first like the marquis, the fat prince, scheming princess, and the bloody emperor.
This isn't even hard to find evidence of, heck it seems like most wars are examples of this at the leadership level, the nazi's in ww2 had a technological edge on the allies for most of the war and in some cases even at the war's end, but their leadership was so incompetent that they'd do stupid stuff like invading a arctic climate nation in winter or refusing to use ground troops to take a enemy country because of thinking you can bomb them to submission when they have a fully functional subway system.

And it's even happening in the modern day, one only has to look at the current mess in europe to see how many idiots are involved on both sides.

This story really has great potential. It's such a waste to get hiatus..

That's gonna come next. It's probably gonna be the climax of the next volume.

And Wortenia Senki is still above it in term of 'this plan is fucking terrible, what made you even think of doing this'
Wortenia Senki is just horrible in every way except the art, so, that's the given.

I call that the Batman v Superman syndrome. It's not the first story to have this problem, but BvS had it particularly bad.
In the movie, Batman wanted to kill Superman because he "might" be the spearhead of an alien invasion...
... ignoring that said alien invasion actually occurred in the previous movie (Man of Steel) and Superman fought against it.
Seriously, this Batman was the worst depiction of Batman ever. Not that Superman was much better.

Here, the situation is pretty similar, but not as extreme. Granted, the guy is paranoid, but it is quite a healthy thing when you're at his level of power in a corrupt country.
However, he should choose his battles more carefully. His target is basically a hero supported by the people, has been shown to be immune to poison, has slayed a dragon and publicly faced-off another, has found and captured/killed more than 800 bandits in a few days, has plans to settle in the Forest of Death or whatever they call it and is recognized as an apostle of whatever god they worship. And I might have forgotten a few things in the mix. Also that's just the public stuff.
He doesn't know about the nanomachines, the drones, the spaceship... but even going by what he already knows, he only has one - very slim - chance to pull it off. And even if it works, there will likely be consequences. There is no good outcome for him.

So my conclusion is the "so you have chosen death" meme.

The funniest part is that Alan id actually planing to Usurp the king.

So the evil prime minister would be a hero to his country.
