In the flashback panels, when Alan said there's 1 (survivor), then it beeps, the Captain then said "There's no survivor."

Did they abandon that one person to die ? Or did that beep means that person just died right there already. (or maybe that last person got 'turned' into that Tank.)

I'm going to assume that Allan's plan for the planetary defense is going to need to accelerate at the speed of light or they'll be overwhelmed in a few years.

Like that thing needs a certain method to be dealt with and his planetary war armor doesn't have enough juice.

it really is ugly lol. it feels like they were going for a "jin-roh but more sci-fi" kind of feel but didn't stop to consider that deforming the basically-perfect jin-roh armor in any way makes it look just that: deformed

True - we're seeing in the flash back that it took an entire squad to beat these things, then MC is just waltzing in and declaring victory by himself (we assume anyway, perhaps he requires plenty of help the next chapter).
If MC himself wins this, it kind of takes the tooth out of the whole bug threat, that seemed so much more catastrophic prior.
