Yup, that sounds like a "High-Ranking noble" thing alright.
it's "group marriage", not "group". Blame english inability to compound words, should obviously have been "groupmarriage" in any reasonable language.party-cum-group?

Will she get yuri or cock?
Holy shit, is that true? Really looking forward to how that plays out now, makes me wonder if this 'other world' is basically just aThe prince is her (his) girlfriend before reincarnating, so these two actually hook up, resulting in a very gay but actually not situation.
Fairly sure ppl know what that word means, and their issue was the unfortunate linebreak between "group" and "marriage", making it seem like it's "a party that's also a group" (which doesn't quite mesh). Or rather than line-break, the issue lies more in the fact that when you need to use hyphens like that, having one of the the words being a "open compound" word (compound words that aren't compounded, ie. "hot dog") becomes extraordinarily awkward (even when it's not the exact same phrase; ie. "white house-issued")Just so I don't have to read more jokes like that.
More like the text bubble was small so they couldn't fit the full wording in there so it, of course, went below it to fit in reasonably instead of leaving it out. It literally says group marriage if you just read it properly. lolit's "group marriage", not "group". Something like 90% of English speakers only know of "cum" as meaning "climax" or "ejaculate" unless it is surrounded by other Latin words, in which case they just dismiss it as a funny foreign word without caring about its meaning.Fairly sure ppl know what that word means, and their issue was the unfortunate linebreak between "group" and "marriage", making it seem like it's "a party that's also a group" (which doesn't quite mesh). Perfect explanation there. Exactly as I would have put it. Frankly using the word cum is in poor taste period. For the manga setting.Something like 90% of English speakers only know of "cum" as meaning "climax" or "ejaculate" unless it is surrounded by other Latin words, in which case they just dismiss it as a funny foreign word without caring about its meaning.
Basically, people are joking about it because the meaning they're deriving from "party-cum-group [marriage]" is that of an orgy or gangbang, not because party and group are the similar things.
Yes, that was my point. It's what "linebreak" means.More like the text bubble was small so they couldn't fit the full wording in there so it, of course, went below it to fit in reasonably instead of leaving it out. It literally says group marriage if you just read it properly. lol
I really doubt this. Most ppl are somewhat fluent in english, and knows fully well what that phrase means. More reasonable to invert your statistics to be that 10% might not.Something like 90% of English speakers only know of "cum" as meaning "climax" or "ejaculate" unless it is surrounded by other Latin words, in which case they just dismiss it as a funny foreign word without caring about its meaning.

What? Is it not more sensible with the setting (high-society), than something involving orphan mc's? After all, it's generally not used outside slightly more formal language.Perfect explanation there. Exactly as I would have put it. Frankly using the word cum is in poor taste period. For the manga setting.
The meaning is understood, but it's the use of the line break, and the word, and therein implying such debauchery with the word. Even though such was not meant to be implied. There would be more appropriate use of line breaks, and or shorten it all together. Some one above already mentioned. The use of the word. Very very few use the word cum like that any more. There's a lot of English's words that're no longer used the same way like they used to be. Like cum let us be on our way. England used to use the term like that.Yes, that was my point. It's what "linebreak" means.
I really doubt this. Most ppl are somewhat fluent in english, and knows fully well what that phrase means. More reasonable to invert your statistics to be that 10% might not.
Instead, I find it much more likely that people are reacting because of the unfortunate linebreak/whitespace, making it read really wonky.

You didn't mention the "Linebreak" so I simply just pointed it out for you, as you also complained about stuff in different comment sections about how you didn't understand April Fool's Day chapters and others had to point it out, along with other things.Yes, that was my point. It's what "linebreak" means.

Also, people who are somewhat fluent in English still most likely never heard that phrase (As, I, a fluent English speaker, didn't hear that phrase up until now so I had to look it up), as I sent that same page to my friends and they didn't understand what it meant and just thought "funny cum joke" even after providing context. The line break just made it more funnier.
In addition to that, I specified that the root-issue lies in it being an open compound word, which if you are unaware, plays poorly with automatic word wrapping features, who try to break between words and fail due to the whitespaceFairly sure ppl know what that word means, and their issue was the unfortunate linebreak between "group" and "marriage", [...]
What? I assume that's meant as some sort of insult, but if not, [then just in case] I probably need to point out that nothing I said was a complaint (well, aside from bashing slightly on English as a language, for funsies )?Basically, just let others enjoy the funny unfortunate line break instead of typing a lot about it. Complainer.
You type way too much, especially why I say you're a complainer, my point is that you complain a lot about anything; if you see an issue with anything you'll talk about it for whatever reason and point it out.In addition to that, I specified that the root-issue lies in it being an open compound word, which if you are unaware, plays poorly with automatic word wrapping features, who try to break between words and fail due to the whitespace
Unsure what you mean about the april fools chapters, but I suspect you refer to the ones that aren't april fools chapters, and are instead troll chapters (you generally see a surge of such chapters during both mars 31 and april 2nd). Or are you referring to my requests for them to be properly tagged in the DB so I can filter them and opt-out of md's april fools?. (ps: also unsure how this is relevant to the subject in the first place - feels kinda like you are trying to discredit your conversation partner by looking through their post history half a year into the past to find other statements you disagree with, or think you can twist into something negative? But you would never <3 - not to mention it would be an odd choice to pick something so universally agreeable to disparage in that case)
As for statistics, I am regrettably unable to locate any actual statistics on the subject. So I guess we will have to remain with anecdotal gut-feeling ones. Might simply be that as someone who learned english as a second language, and pretty much only know others who also has it as a second language, there is a bias in knowing such niche phrases? And that most native speakers might've, despite being similarly fluent, never encountered usage of that latin proposition before. Honestly, I don't know. But clearly there is some bias somewhere causing our environs to differ so greatly.

And feel free to enjoy it, I never did anything to diminish that, and hopefully your enjoyment was greatly enriched by learning that it was a rarity borne out of 2 linguistic quirks (word-wrapping breaking for open-compound words + the latin loanword/proposition "cum" having an unfortunate homonym) combined with unusual synergy between the first word and the first half of the second
I think I see what you mean? I take it you consider verboosity, observations or discourse as complaints/nag and mood-killingYou type way too much, especially why I say you're a complainer, my point is that you complain a lot about anything; if you see an issue with anything you'll talk about it for whatever reason and point it out.
Sure. My goal was only to enrich (/1053), so if you had opposite experience that makes sense. I'll go one step further and try to remember your nick and preference for the future, to avoid replying [to your comments] if I want to say anything aside from being an echo-chamber (though I honestly suck at names, so let's hold our thumbs I manage that 'remember' part )I am tired of interacting with you, cause of how you act and such, your point basically goes nowhere at all always, what do you get out of typing all of it? Nothing, in case, if you didn't realize my point is that I don't really like you due to how you act, maybe it's natural for you, but for me, you just ruin the fun just like how you did on April Fool's day cause you cannot just calm down about a simple thing.
This isn't meant to insult you, it's just meant for you just to realize that some people like you just kill the mood always and don't want to talk to you.
Just keep me out of this conversation.
