I like the fact that MC has just accepted that (s)he's a straight woman... Well, as straight as they can be anyway, given the circumstance. Usually in these kinds of stories, they end up as a lesbian, when we don't really have any idea what causes people's sexuality - could be a chemical thing within the body (for example), and thus nothing to do with 'preference' or their soul.

Not that I'm totally against stories where they do do that, this is just a refreshing change from the norm.
MC can't be a lesbian which was mentioned in the earlier parts when she was trying to add some yaoi shenanigans to her dolls.

Unlike the other villainess manga(s), in here it could cause civil wars which could tear the kingdom.

So yeah, politics.

Eh? Who said she was straight? She’s settling for a boy because he’s effeminate and, more importantly, in her age bracket. Whiiiich is what most girls who didn’t like boys did in the past. Because there weren’t many ways for women to support themselves without a man.

Also that's a pretty wild speculation. Why would it be a chemical thing that has nothing to do with their preferences or soul?

Fun fact: Lesbians love boys’ love because it’s gay.

Anyways, this is all a moot point because the protagonist keeps referring to her(?)self as a man.

Yes, so she's still going for a boy... so she's being as straight as she can be, given her circumstances.

This is a story about an isekai'd genderbent person and his isekai'd genderbent lover introducing weeb culture to a ye olde european culture, let's not pretend this is totally realistic. I'm sure the author could have shoehorned in the MC being in a lesbian relationship somehow, if that's what they wanted to do.

Also that's a pretty wild speculation. Why would it be a chemical thing that has nothing to do with their preferences or soul?
I was referring to one of the speculated reasons for why people are actually born/become homosexual; which is debated to be genetic, chemicals within the brain, up bringing, etc.
If you want to believe some hippy dippy stuff about it being the soul causing people to become gay, then go for it, but it's not really related to what I was saying.

From a practical standpoint, it does seem like marrying the prince is the best option for her. She has lousy alternatives and the spinster/lesbian route won't be publicly accepted, she'll get a not-insignificant amount of political leverage with the position, and she'll even get to support her new bestie's love to boot.

That last part strikes me as significant in particular because kids don't have to grow up with the same ideology as their parents. By assisting her in the one point of individuality that caused the most separation from the rival faction, she can essentially strip them of their leading family within a generation, which should make the kingdom more stable.
