That felt random and came outta nowhere....
Kinda feels like they needed to force kusonoki to advance their relationship with contrivance
Think this is why im still a hebibro
hebi and keisuke's relationship just feels more organic
Hebikawa didnt want to force a kiss she wasn't ready for so she didnt go for it
while Kusonoki just gets a free kiss with no build up or free choice of her own
Just kinda feels unnatural
No build up? We are 48 chapters into this manga with her being the fmc. How is there no build up? The last few chapters she has been avoiding him, and trying to keep a distance. Yeah its cliche, but to pretend that a development like this wasn't bound to happen is just putting your head in the sand, and acting like you have never read a manga like this before.

I saw a development like this happening a mile away because its cliche. Saying it had no build up just shows that you are most likely blinded by a ship, and not paying attention when you are reading.

You’re talking like Hebikawa is doing all this because she genuinely likes Keisuke, not because she’s trying to validate her worldview by forcing Kusunoki to reveal a darker side. Sure, she’s catching feelings for him along the way, but that doesn’t change the fact that she’s acting with outright malicious intent. Either way, Hebikawa’s not going to “win” this. We all know that.

People read these things like they are some kind of sports betting event instead of appreciating characters for what the contribute to a story. They project themselves onto the mc, and try to pick who they like most because they fit their shallow perspective instead of asking. "Who do we think is the best match for this character" not "Who do I think is the best match for me".

Do we think a character who essentially bullied this character, and only really is chasing after him to get under someone else's skin is the best match for him?

Do we really think that a character who caused trauma, and is still trying to just stir the pot is best for this character?

Do we really think that a character who has not even tried to redeem themselves, and has done everything in their power to be a bad person is the right choice for this character?

I feel like the people who are commenting slandering one character to try and lift up another are just trying to contribute to a toxic discourse instead of actually analyzing characters. Thats just my opinion I guess.

I don't mind the snake girl because she does contribute to the story, and adds tension. Do I think she is a good match for the mc? No not at all.

Total.
Snake-lover.
Destruction.
On Twitter, the mangaka sometimes posts updated chapters with colored pages, and I really hope this page someday will be colored too.

I'm meaning more so towards this scenario specifically
This date is supposed to be like an story event and events usually have build up to it
like the hebikawa date
the hebi date also had a lot of set up to it prior to their actual date with keisuke helping hebi and getting to know her better
but during the date they actually went and did stuff and then afterwards they had an actual conversation that helped grow their relationship even more about keisuke accepting hebi as a person which is an in the moment event which had a lot of set up thoroughout the story which gets paid off here which then builds up to their (non-existent)kiss
Kusonoki doesn't have that
they just go on a date and and nothing builds up to their kiss on their date
they're just having fun(?) with no character building or relationship building happening throughout
yes there's a lot of chapters prior that make this not the most unnatural thing ever
but i'd much rather prefer if their date actually had some type of relationship building prior to their kiss to effective payoff

I can understand where you are coming from with that, but also you said hebi and his relationship feels more organic, and that is just false.

Its a relationship completely built on false pretenses. Hebi is only getting close to him up to this point to try and break kusonoki's "Perfect girl" persona. Its a relationship built on malicious intent. There is nothing organic about it.

genuinely shocked at how many people are rooting for hebikawa. you do know she's still a point of trauma for him, right? like it was over for the snek bros from the get go. say what you will about kusunoki, at least she's had a positive relationship with him thus far. it was only recently shizuki was vomiting from just being near her. if anything, her aggressive tactics will work against her. only way i can see her legitimately entering the race is by being actually interested in him. like he doesn't like her and she doesn't like him, how can you even remotely pretend that's a feasible romance.
