I'm actually disappointed she seems to have remembered him... I think it'd have far more impact if she just genuinely didn't remember him. He's stuck with this trauma because of her, and she doesn't even remember because it meant so little to her. I think that reflects real life a lot better... bullies move on with their lives, while their victims can be burdened for years with the impact of the bullying.

Also I think Kusunoki's dialogue on page 5 panel 1 is kinda weird. The way she's saying it, it's like she's telling Moe that Hebikawa goes to Kusunoki's school, as if Kusunoki is at a different school to Moe. I think a better way to translate it would be something like "Yeah, she goes to our school."

TBF, it's been about a year or less since the bullying. It's realistic she can remember.

FWIW I checked the first chapter, and it doesn't actually say  when it happened... just in middle school. So it could be start of middle school, end of middle school, or anywhere in between. Based on the flashback of him in the library with Kusunoki, he didn't really have friends, so maybe he started doing that after Hebikawa said that about him. Or maybe it hurt so much because he'd been alone for most of middle school and became friends with Hebikawa near the end of it.

Re-read the chapter. As we've stated multiple times, she looked right at him when she said it with a smile. She either meant it to hurt, or didn't care if it hurt.
So yes, she did something wrong.

She doesn't have to care. Why do people have to care about you??? As long as they don't go out of their way to hurt you and treat you with basic respect, that should all we expect.

If they talk behind you back, just suck it up. Like, we are allowed to talk bad about people when it suits us, but when others do it, it's wrong???

something ive been confused about since i started this manga. did he just happen to hear her trash talking him or did she look directly at him and say it?
what i think really sucks is he didnt even have a crush on her, he just thought she was his friend. i really hope this doesnt get axed, i could see it going past 10 volumes. snake bitch really needs a good comeuppance. i mean something that completely mindbreaks her (in a sfw way) with the realization of just how horrible she really is.

Like, she didn't actually try to hurt him or have any intention of hurting him.

He just overheard her real feelings. And yah, it sucks.... but it's not like she deserves punishment or sh*t like that.

In the end, she gained trust and admiration because she showed compassion. It doesn't matter if she didn't care about him or if she only did it to look good.

It's better to have people be polite than people to act like jerks for no reason.

People try to make themselves look good all of the time.

The fact that she was even going out of her way to act nice is a good thing. Sure, she might not actually care about him...
