Seeing Shi Sui/Loulan hinting at things (the events soon to unfold, that is her family's glory and position fading) like that, knowing it leads to her disappearance from the story is heartbreaking. She was just born in the wrong family. I'm glad she survives in the end at least, but I really would like to see her in the future. Or just something showing she found happiness, although I'd imagine that's quite hard, giving up on everything and -one dear to you. Gotta wait for MaoMao to become empress and declare her innocent

You know he cockblock himself when Maomao offered herself to him because if Maomao gets pregnant, it might spark a civil war between Gyokuyo's faction and Moon Prince's faction. But we'll see what might've changed Maomao and Zui's minds in the future

Jinshi isn't interested in the throne because he's gotten used to operating from the shadows. The truth that he's the emporer's first-born is only known by 2 people, his mother lady Ah-Dou and the empress dowager.

The story is likely leading to the assassination of the current emperor but it's still several volumes away in the LN. That'll probably be the start of the ending arcs.
