Very sweet-- mixed feeling about the slimification to follow.
I really appreciated how Omori has been portrayed in this: a real fucking character, with DEPTH and believable INTERIORITY. I don't think I've ever read/seen a depiction of what seems to be binge eating disorder the way it could actually be experienced and affect a person's psychology and physiology. And so--just like with restrictive eating disorders--I itch for our character to better meet her real needs and self-actualize! It's difficult/rare for a story to depict the dysfunction of this disorder without judging the character.
And yet, at the same time, the chubby character design is so cute and interesting and appealing--a breath of fresh air anytime a manga is able to achieve that regardless of size, but an anomoly in a fatter character.. It's hard not to be disappointed in the generic transformation results. We couldn't keep a little roundness in the face? Give her a somewhat distinctive build, even at a lower weight setpoint? I can't help but boo 😆
