It's more common if you grow up in poor places. I had a girl in my class back in the day that was gorgeous but her family was super poor and all her clothes were hand-me-downs from her older sister who played volleyball and had huge shoulders and back and looked goofy on her and her mom cut her hair which looked horrible. After a classmate started cutting her hair instead and she got good at tailoring adjustments to her clothes she looked super good. Although I guess that was more of a case of no fashion availability instead of sense.
