I disagree, your example is an extreme measure to justify your view on tone. The very first page of this manga states "I am a succubus" and I could give you a point if this topic never came up again but that is not the case here. The demoness theme is always present, I suggest you chill and enjoy it as it comes, I doubt the author would make Emu brush this off like it's nothing because she's not that type of character and she's well aware of what is happening. There is no room for misunderstandings one way or another: Succubi seduce and men get seduced. Feels rapey? Learn more about fantasy and check again.
in fantasy a succubus seduction is like a potent aphrodisiac, it is still morally wrong but in the male mind he wants this, but here not only it is morally wrong but it is also forced, mc doesn't want this not even in his subconciousness, it isn't a aphrodisiac it is just a paralyzing poison, she isn't a succubus anymore, she's just a viper wanting food and superiority. Another fact is that this story isn't in a medieval world but a modern one with rules for coexistence between interspecies, so if what she's doing isn't a crime in this world i don't know what it is

Interesting.

Okay, I was wrong last chapter--looks like this was mostly to set up the lore of succubi, and the author's taking it in some (for me) novel directions.

Makes me think we might actually get a more serious introspective look and narrative about how nonhuman beings operate in the world--specifically Succubi--and the struggles involved.

The fact it cut off right as Emu showed up, with that expression, is a touch disappointing due to having to wait to see what happens, but she also should know what succubi are about. So I would be surprised if she blamed him for what's transpiring, at least from a logical standpoint.

Guess we'll see.
What I find interesting is that the whole "We gotta sleep with superior males or we get low magic power and age terribly" might actually be placebo IF our fmc has high magic and good looks just by reading BL.

Other than that I don't think this series is going to get more serious about the some things, like, how many steps are we from eugenics the moment we introduce something like "superior males" being canon? Better not to think about it.

Feel free to educate yourself, I'm done with this pointless exchange :bleh:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Succubus

Brother, the "turn your brain off" stance doesn't work for this series when in the very first chapter they established it was a massive taboo for a succbus to use her magic on an unwilling participant:

If this was a High School DxD-esque sex comedy, that may work, but from the first chapter this series picked a lane of being more down to earth in its dynamics, so it would be a wild pivot to just let the new girl off the hook with a slap on the wrist.

There ain't gonna be consequences be for real guys lol, there never is

With that said, yeah I don't have any faith in their actually being any consequences. lol

Translation's a little awkward this time, but wow, the series' lore just adopted a whole bunch of stupid implications. We went from inclusion to ranking men and scientific sexism and some kind of poorly-defined sex juju?

It turns out her motive is... just spite? That drove her so crazy that she's going to commit a for-real serious-ass felony and rape this guy she isn't into?

And what the fuck is up with this depiction of rape? Unless there's even more succubus magic at play, somebody sucking your fingers when you ain't feeling it is somewhere between gross and hilarious. Having your ears nibbled by someone you're repelled by just tickles and makes you think "ew, I have spit on me." He's put his "this is fucked up and I'm scared" on hold to marvel at how sexy being assaulted is?

What a fucking embarrassing chapter of a manga.
Goddamn.
Ah... No.
He doesn't want any of this, but she is a sucubbus, and causing this feeling is literally her power.
And even feeling all this, he is clearly not into it.

Could also be that "superior males" is entirely subjective, and it either wasn't conveyed in the translation, or it wasn't conveyed/internalized correctly by Rinka specifically. What is "superior" for one person might not be for another, in that sense. Which makes it way less problematic.

Because yes you are correct--the slippery slope is real. I'm very much being optimistic in how I'm interpreting where the author's going, but I'll definitely reevaluate depending on the next chapter (or two).

Now that he's made eye contact with Emu, he'd better have the guts to say "help" rather than let this lead to a misunderstanding or just go with the flow and end up saved.

Also, Emu will be sitting on an imperial throne-level cuck chair if she doesn't do more than just say "Stop it!" to this girl, to the point I lose hope that the mangaka has the guts to advance their relationship in a proactive way. The rape itself doesn't offend me, rather, the implication that maybe Emu won't react strongly enough because "succubi just do this, and he's not her boyfriend [yet]". I don't want a whole drama about the new girl being charged with rape, I just want her to think "oh shit" next chapter.

As for this other girl's long prospects... Even though I'm usually a major fan of harem/polygamy romances, I don't like harems in manga like this where there's an established mutually unrequited love couple starting from chapter 1. Especially since the new girl doesn't seem to have much personality yet (visually cute, though), and readers will probably dislike a non-virgin heroine anyway (in my case, I'm perfectly fine with girls who are "virgins to being in love").

You two better square up against this girl. Straight up weird.

I get they want to portray succubus but I feel there was a more tasteful approach than force  don't succubus have mental charms or something?

Thanks for the TL

part of me wants to say "we're all of five chapters in and maybe this is drip feeding the lore so that we don't just have walls of text/exposition overloading the reader right from the get-go", because extensive dumping of world-building is an art if you don't want to just overload a reader into being glassy-eyed and burned out before even getting to whatever the plot between the main cast is supposed to be".
I think it's maybe I was a veteran in the Koi to Uso trenches and I'm already dead inside, but you guys have to be prepared: this author likes somehow worlds with set rules but won't explain the exent of the implications and will drip info whenever they feel like the audience might start to question the internal logic, and just coming with an explanation on how some the succubi of this world act is an example on how they do things.

Maybe they like to keep it secret for dramatic effect or maybe they just don't realize the hole they dug themselves in, but this is a staple and you should get used to it if you want to keep reading.

Also, there is a possibility this could turn into shitty Scum's Wish. Just saying.

This is honestly making me think the integration of succubi was a political move by the succubi to make sure they could get their hooks into the men they want. If they wait till a guy is successful, there is a good chance he will already be married and then there is going to be fallout from being a homewrecker (as succubi generally are). However, integration means that succubi can get their hooks in early, and human women, or non-succubi, get the sloppy seconds when they get bored. Succubi needing constant stimulation to stay beautiful gives them motivation for going for a political solution where they are protected by the law from envious women that want to claw their eyes out.

Succubi looks being based on arousal seems like the kind of thing that should have been found out before Emu. Even the idea that succubi actually work similarly to humans where the potential for pair bonding exists, but sleeping around ruins the capability to pair bond (in both sexes), doesn't seem right. That too would have been found out, because surely a succubi fell in love with their first guy at some point, and that is surely something that would be recorded.
