How deep is the drama in made in abyss? Wondering because Clannad wrecked my brain.

The plot of MiA is both a curse and blessing. It may be deep and saddening, but it is a good read.

I suppose I should, because even despite what the Clannad anime did to my brain I still enjoyed it thoroughly.
