I kinda have a problem with the power creep of this manga. We haven't really seen an obvious increase in any of the student's abilities, yet they are still blatantly outclassed by their teachers. It seems there will be a major event soon; so unless there is a hyperbolic time chamber, I can't imagine there being a believable increase in power. And yes, I understand this a is a shonen manga.

well, in nurarihyon no mago, there was a skill that is basically calling to their roots. Power level stepped above a new stage when it was introduced.
I imagine this manga being the same.
Though they did touch up on this with the master disciple arc, there should be something more, more in the line of their ancestry.

Mephisto is a time based demon right? That’s what he was in blue exorcist. It’d explain his quick movements as his stopping time. And him shooting at the enemies could just be him aging those spots into dust.

If so, that’s a pretty hard power to counter but him being called mind games makes me think he’s not as strong as he seems and is bluffing a lot. Kinda like usopp.

I kinda like how the teachers and adults are outclassing the students. I mean, isn't that just obvious?

All the Mephistos I see in fiction are FUCKING TERRIFYING.

Sorry, Zebubra... but I get why you were the bottom runner of the pack.

With a title like "Mindgames King", I am betting that he didn't really punch holes in them, but those are just very realistic illusion that can affect the body directly.

The lack of "effects" in his attack doesn't go with how magic has been shown to us in the series... if we are talking only about the explosive type, we did have a few examples of mind magic and they had the same feel to me, explains his movement too.

Still really powerful.

I understand your point, but I don't have the same opinion.

For me, if the kids could match these monsters just because they trained hard during a few years in school it would feel unearned, to say the least.

And more than anything... I don't think Iruma and Co's fighting capabilities will be the thing that turns things around in the future, they already have strong adults at their side, one of the reasons Baal has to be so discrete, what will be essential to change things... is Iruma capacity to empathize with others and have that returned.

With the themes of this story, I think that just punching their way out of this situation would have the opposite effect.

I'm betting he has psychic powers, so his illusions are actually mental manipulation and the attacks on the kraken are telekinetic shots.
