Iruma's scene of carnage
I searched and got a result on yeshiva but not for frum, but I think I may have caught the joke.Hard to get out of the yeshiva when your parents are frum.
(That’s a joke for 2% of potential readers)
Kind of?I searched and got a result on yeshiva but not for frum, but I think I may have caught the joke.
Is it about religious indoctrination?
Ah, yes. Dovid HaMelech. This, and we know in the past that there was a Many-Ears Demon Lord,
so it's not like they're actually weak or incapable. Their roles as noted in past chapters seem tailor-made for them, but also ways to keep their excelling abilities leashed to others so they don't cause problems in the Underworld at large, possibly stemming all from the actions of that one Demon Lord long ago.
I mean, they have good reason behind it, they're fairly certain they're so weak that the only chance of survival for them was to serve others (with a few exceptions.) Change is difficult and scary because it opens up a whole bunch of weaknesses in the transition, it's why only a handful of Many-Eared demons actually bothered to show up for Melchior's "establish a new country" plan. The biggest issue is that Iruma has taken zero consideration for why they're in this boat in the first place and this current activity exposes them in the worst way since it means declaring themselves as equals with other demons (painting a target on their back for any demons that are set in the old ways.) They already took a big risk as it was agreeing to form a country under Melchior's protection, but wouldn't stir the pot as much because it'd be hard for others to argue against a 13 crown and they still wouldn't be completely independent (which sounds bad, but is good from the context of not pushing things to the point of opening themselves up for a rain of hell to come down on them.)Old Generation: The way we live is hard, Sometimes we wish we could change it.
New Generation: Let's change this way of life.
Old Generation: NO! You are going to sit here and do nothing while complaining like the rest of us. God why can't our lives get better?
It's hard to break down barriers built through fear since fear tends to defy rational thought (especially when that fear is built around the near extinction of your people 😓)Hmmm... the past generation is more set in their ways than I thought.
Iruma is about to deal with the full brunt of generational conditioning... this won't be pretty.

“listen to your parents! They know what you’re good at best. It's great that each child is finding their own individual dreams, but Iruma really needs to remember a few things:
A. Not all dreams can become a reality
B. The Many-Eared tribe are in this predicament for a reason, confidence can only take them so far
C. The Many-Eared tribe have their own unique talents and skills, teach them to use that to find ways to reach their futures (don't teach a fish how to climb, if it wants to go high, then teach it how to launch itself out of the water so it can soar.)
D. Inspiring the children is great and all, but that means nothing if the parents aren't on board because then they'll just smash their confidence.
His doesn't have a perfectly defined objectives and paths to those objectives. Catching bad guys can be difficult if they are tricky and strong but at least you know who you have to subdue and the only people who are against you are the person you're trying to catch and their allies. All things considered, Iruma's version of the test is probably way more difficult than any of those other examples.
