This is an amusing manga and I do enjoy reading it, but I'd say that beyond being amusing, it needed an emotional core and a central relationship to set itself up, and at this point I don't feel like it's accomplished that. What relationship exactly is the audience supposed to root for?

He isn't just dense, he doesn't just not see her as a girl - he genuinely sees her as nothing other than a favorite romcom character, and he selfishly wants his ship to sail. That's kind of heavy, to disregard someone's personhood and agency like that.

I feel like it's a mix of that and some kinda self confidence issue cus like the guy says What good would it do to fall in love with someone like me. And the way he denies her love vehemently also kinda enforces that and then theres also the last page where he thinks what good would it be to get my hopes up.
