Unlikely. We're evaluating how to implement it without confusing users, but it does segregate/split discussions and increase moderation requirements. There's a trial period where both systems are functional. We will use this to see what's happening and what the usage is; maybe there is something we can do there, but assume there won't be forum integration in its current form for titles and chapter discussions within the platform.

As an aside, we can do more with more moderators, which we are looking at opening a slot for soon. More supporters also allow us to expand the scope of our features, and we are looking to re-enable the Dex-chan subscriptions shortly since our payment compliance work with the icons and business information is complete.
it would be really nice if you could find a way to link back to the old forum posts from the chapters and titles in some way.

dex-chan subscriptions were closed ?

Currently, I think there will be a button in the comment count context menu to open/create the forum thread, and we will monitor that.

And yes, subscriptions were paused because we didn't meet payment compliance regarding icons and business information.

I see Mastercard and Visa Logos now on the website. Was deleting the content in february part of meeting this compliance ? bending the knee ?

coincidentally the original thread on this topic was closed yesterday for further replies :

Only way this is going to work is if you have an actual working report system (not saying you don't already have one, just that you're going to need to prepare for lots more reports) </3
More people are definitely going to use it, but that also means more people skirting filters and being assholes. If everything goes well, and engagement goes way up, automated stuff makes mistakes and only goes so far.

Also how in danger are fanscans going to be since you got payment processors and stuff working with you officially(?)

It was not; we received a letter regarding the content, and we removed the content named in the letter because there could be legal repercussions otherwise. If we had removed content connected to issues with payment providers, anything categorised as mature would be gone by now.

The original thread was closed because it spiralled again into negativity, and the tinfoil brigade was starting to jump on that again.

MangaDex has grown to the point that there is more scrutiny on it than before. Some users defend that it should have shut down in May 2025. To those users, we thank them for their support over the years, and we wish them all the best. To those who continue to use MangaDex and are excited for other features and improvements we have planned, we can't wait to release them, and we're thankful for their patience while we figured out the next steps.

This is very valid, and we're trying to be careful about it. We're crafting a system to prevent bots from commenting, and we will continue to work on it, ideally integrating it with the forum system to reduce betting spam. For actual moderation, we will take it one step at a time and mold/tweak the flagging system so that people can express their opinions without the community spiralling into a toxic pool. The Discord community guidelines appear to be working well, so we might mirror them.

Regarding your question about danger: Subscriptions support the maintenance and upkeep of the platform. Features offered are enhancements to the user experience and other similar perks, not content, which only rightsholders can monetize and for which there's a specific "KYC" (short for Know Your Customer) legal requirement. Rightsholders can report copyright abuse via the Rights Management Centre, and recurrence is very low. User data is protected by our privacy policy, and we'd only provide that data (username and email address) if we're legally obliged to do so by a court of law.

"the tinfoil brigade" can only look at the facts at hand and find answers for themselfes if there is no transparent and sufficient communication from your side. if users are being kept in the dark they will make assumptions and connect dots the way it seems logical or most likely for them based on what you let them know or not.

again, we still do not know who this "legal nexus" is or why you refuse to name this entity.

assuming it was connected to visa and MC now was just the next best thing that made sense.

deleting posts and comments about the Visa and MC Topic on Reddit today doesnt look too good either.

please pardon me, i did not mean to derail this thread because i actually wanted to give up on this.

You know, if that was your post back then, it would've avoided a loooot of the outrage, lol.

Just make sure to not allow something like #current-world-events to exist. Online Politics are a net negative~
