Imagine reading a manga like this, about a romance between a demon and a human told from the demon's perspective which gives a heavy focus to said demon being hurt by the humans' mistrust of her based on the fact that she is a demon and going "yeah, the demons are totally evil and deserve to all die!!" just because all the human characters are saying that and you decide to automatically agree with them even though the story doesn't actually give any indication that they're biases are justified.

Like how is that the primary sentiment in this thread right now?? What manga do you think you're reading??? A few well-thought out "well maybe?" arguments would be one thing, but this level of "well, the humans said that they killed people for no reason so it must be true!!!" is just ridiculous.

The only explanation I can think of is that this manga has somehow attracted to an unreasonable degree the sorts of people that read exclusively mindless action–adventure "kill all the mooks" fantasy manga and have never read a single other sort of fantasy story despite the fact that this is obviously a rom-com centered around a really heavy-handed racism metaphor.
Nah, readers' patience with the MC has just worn out very, very quickly.

Her seeming confusion over why the Hero doesn't like her is what unravels this for me. How in the ever loving fuck can she be so obsessed with this guy that she got her dad to stop a war just so she can marry him (making her about as bad as the psycho bitch princess that's currently outplaying her), and she doesn't even know his backstory?

She may have had a plan, but her plan was really fucking stupid.

If there was any inkling at all that she knew what the hell she was doing I think folks would be even a little forgiving, but no. Girl was about to backstab her ride-for-all-time wraith bros just for the hint of a chance that she'd get back together with Wooden Slab-kun.

What in the world are you talking about? Where are people saying that

I think it's important to mention that what you are talking about is not at all what I'm complaining about. I agree that Liselotte's being kind of stupid and that the writing strains suspension of disbelief at times. (From both sides.)

I'm specifically complaining about how people seem to just mindlessly accept the statements of the human characters that the demons are inherently evil despite the fact that this obviously isn't that kind of story and the fact that it is literally verifiably not true if you pay any attention to how the demon characters in this story act.

I 100% that they're not actually evil and believe that there's gonna be some reason that they invaded for some justifiable reason. But those comments are responding to the idea that the hero is in some way wrong for his distrust of demons and the MC, but that's just not true. And really even to us the MC seems to be the only alright demon because what we've seen doesn't seem good either.

Keeping in mind we've literally only seen 4 demons(including the MC, and the demon king who's basically nonexistent at this point) doing things and two of those were: the MC's maid who while caring about the MC, also in the first couple of chapters talks about instilling fear in humans casually and that being powerful enough to wipe out parties and seeing yourself as above everyone else are things to strive for as a demon woman. And the demons in chapter 3, in the hero's flashback, killing villagers while saying humans are like insects and that it's not so bad to kill them. Those just are objectively not good things.

Like I said, even though I believe what I said about demons not being evil, until we're shown more demons they've given no reason to believe that the demons weren't the unilateral aggressors.

You're being contradictory here. You say that you don't think the demons are evil, but at the same time you say that the humans are justified in thinking of all the demons as evil? What?

Anyways, you say this like it somehow contradicts anything I said, but really it doesn't change the fact that these people are insisting that the demons are undeniably the sole aggressor in the conflict and that they are inherently irredeemably evil. They're not saying "Schmertz is justified because he believes that the demons are evil," they're saying "Schmertz is justified because the demons are evil." Their actual arguments have nothing to do with him.

Okay, so I've already mentioned this in a comment on a previous chapter, but the whole thing about superiority is very likely just a part of demon culture. It's not strange to think that they'd see establishing oneself as superior and "instilling fear on those beneath you" to be an obligatory point of politeness in the same way doing the opposite is obligatory in Japanese culture, where it is culturally normal for a person of lower status to speak humbly and subserviently to people socially above them.

This might sound weird to you, but think about the sorts of obligatory marks of politeness in your own culture. In the US, having short hair is basically required for many professions, where long hair is seen as unprofessional. Wearing a suit is similar, where wearing even a slightly off-color suit can be seen as unprofessional and impolite. Honestly, these are kind of more ridiculous than something as simple as "being stronger than the people beneath you." Like, yeah, a person in a position of power should be powerful, shouldn't they?

And in the first place, valuing strength isn't that odd. It's silly to think that that's the mark of an inherently evil society, 'cause you know what? Basically every real life society on Earth values strength. Your culture values strength. My culture values strength. The author's culture values strength. There's a reason that action heroes that beat up a bunch of Nazis are seen as cool, and fundamentally, that's no different from a demon in this setting that beats up a bunch of humans being seen as cool.

And the demons in chapter 3, in the hero's flashback, killing villagers while saying humans are like insects and that it's not so bad to kill them. Those just are objectively not good things.
Also, here: You know that the hero's saying these same things about demons, right? He talks about how awesome he is for killing a bunch of demons and justifies it by saying that the demons are evil and that his slaying of them is just. They're at war, and both sides are killing each other and finding ways to justify it. If you're going to say that the demons are evil for that, then it only makes sense to say that the humans are, too.

And in the first place, the humans we've seen are far more aggressive about this perspective. Practically every single human character we've seen so far as expressed this sentiment, and while we haven't seen many demon characters, none of them have expressed the same in reverse. Further, it was the demons that proposed peace, and that was because a demon fell in love with a human and in spite of the fact that they were both killing each other in the war.

So at the moment, if you're going to talk about the morality of the races based on how they look at and think about the other, then the demons definitely seem to come out on top right now.

Like I said, even though I believe what I said about demons not being evil, until we're shown more demons they've given no reason to believe that the demons weren't the unilateral aggressors.
Anyways, we actually do have "reason to believe that the demons weren't the unilateral aggressors:"

This is a rom-com between a demon and a human told from the perspective of the demon who is in love with the human, and we see said demon get upset when the human treats her poorly because of his belief that all demons are evil. This is just unambiguously not the set-up for a story where demons are mindless killers that murdered all the humans for funsies.

Like, you have to take the genre and theme and characters into consideration here, man. I know that its common in modern internet theory culture to ignore everything but raw facts, but that's simply not an effective way to analyze a piece of media. That's how you end up with nonsensical conclusions that are at odds with the story the author's trying to tell. You can't ignore the heart.

I still don't have sympathy on Demon Princess, considering the demon tribe was pretty much victorious in the war and human being a plaything.

Is it still justified for the antagonist Princess to do what she does? It is.
The prince giving a ring like he's actually courting the Princess? It's still SYMBOLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIC.

In time being, I can say this is pretty much seen from ShouJosei lens and armor that will make the Demon Princess victorious in the end.

Look, all I can say is:
you can't expect a Lord Of the Ring ending coming out of Tamil Soap Opera.

The hero and king don't act like people befitting of their stations. The hero may still hate Lieselotte, but treating her less than what a demon princess, much less as his fiancee, deserve is such an asshole move. Humans are trash in this series.
Most of them seem to be the only ones could so far are the ones in the Brothel. Even with his dislike of demons the way he treats her is bad. Locked up for decay flowers they are do stupid it would be different if she hurt someone she shouldn't be sealed. What of the princess knight tries to attack her, will she be able to defend herself with that restriction

Demon lord sent over a peace treaty one day out of the blue and that's it. Probably knowing humans can't keep check of their emotions and will attack his daughter unjust, giving him an excuse to resume the war.

Personally if I had to guess, the Princess actually REALLY likes the Hero and demanded her father do this so she could marry him and be close to him and live out some weird fantasy she has.

I don't want it to turn out "humans were actually bad guys" because this trope is so boring
But we are probably getting exactly that because cruel demons started brutally murdering innocent humans for absolutely no reason other than demons being evil with a switch somewhere in the middle to ackshually humans started it first and demons retaliated and are missunderstood and most of this stuff is human propaganda anyway is easier to write and i guess for most readers to understand than writing some believable politics - and war being an extension of it, where often stuff is mostly gray rather than black and white.
I personally like to think it was a WW1 situation where everyone just wanted the war. Humans start the war and the Demons went “Hell yeah!” Que decades of endless war and even though one side is technically winning, everyone is still deep in the red. Princess falls in love with hero and the demon king just takes the free respite.

I think so long as it’s clear both sides just wanted a fight and it wasn’t some koom by yah paradise beforehand, the good/evil issue can be bypassed. These are kingdoms after all!

Oh, I don't doubt FMC's motive for peace. My theory is just that demon lord doesn't simply crave, he sees that 1: Both side is fighting for so long it's exhausting so peace is a win-win and 2: He predicts human would blindly try to expose his daughter, and if they somehow got her executed on unfair ground (like this case), he'd have an excuse to break peace.

The locking up was fine as the demon princess showed hostility towards the human princess. Decaying the flowers, at least from the human perspective, is an act of aggression because it could be interpreted as a means of attack on the princess herself. It is similar to letting off a firearm round near a world leader's family.
You've got to remember that the human princess is one of the most important people around, thus there isn't much the hero can do to smooth things over. In fact, the hero went out of his way to find a solution that would appease the nobles, reduce the perceived threat of the demon princess and be a "just" way to treat the dipolmat of a recent enemy nation.
