I feel like it came a little out of nowhere that he likes her romantically. He's certainly fond of her, but that goes for pretty much all the female characters, and it doesn't feel like he's particularly close with Marco or that they've had a lot of relationship development. I guess this isn't really that sort of manga, but it would've been more impactful if they did.
