At least those divine spirits can die fighting. If the ink clan had simply conquered all of the 3000 worlds, leading to the tree old man's death, I reckon those divine spirits trapped in the Great Ruins Boundary would have died without even knowing what happened to them.

The multi-tails fox divine spirit most certainly didn't only want to drink tea with Yang Kai.
