The whole series is an an exercise in (almost) total passivity.

I swear 90% of problems in this manga could be solved if the characters just talked to eachother

You guys have literally lost the plot.

Miko is scared of the spirits. She does not want to give the them any indication that she can see them. This includes admitting out loud that she can see them when they might be able to overhear her. She doesn't just want dangerous ones to not harm her or her friends, she wants all of them to leave her alone entirely if possible, because even the harmless ones freak her out.

The passivity is baked into the story's premise.

Seto's odd glassy look makes me wonder if he can even see in the normal sense or if he grew up blind with hatman style daredevil radar.
And as always..... Mama Miko is fine! :smugnako:

Also have to consider there are more in Miko's family circle who have to pokerface to cover their own see-em issues.

Or, y'know, I just have a sense of perspective.
Which you apparently think substitutes both for knowledge of the situation as well as make whatever crap you write beyond crtitique. Must be one hell of a wiseman, sure sounds nice.

A lot of assumptions there, but I'll go with it. So... what? If they can go legit and do it right, more power to them. If they had done so already, the site wouldn't be under attack now. It's silly to think the site could go on like this forever without drawing notice.

I haven't ever donated to the site (remember, it's completely voluntary). I've been reading manga here for more than 7 years and haven't paid a dime. But even if I had, I think I would have gotten my money's worth. Building a site like this ain't easy or cheap. They don't owe me, and they don't owe you.
I think you'll find many are of the opinion that they owe us honesty - you know, the common human decency? Apparently the fact that they still lie to everyone's faces does not bother you - personally I find that disgusting, but your lack of self respect is your problem. Simp away if you must but don't you dare project that crap onto others.

This is neither here nor there. Again, they don't owe you.
If the publishers had wanted to, they could have come at MangaDex with the big guns right from the start. You can't really believe that there is no risk in running a site like this, no matter how much they're willing to cooperate with legal actions.
What do you want them to do? They have no legal ground to stand on. And I'm not sure who exactly has been "thrown under the bus." They simply stopped hosting the illegal scanlations that were DMCA'd.
Trying to spin it like someone's asking them to be a bulwark against publishers is laughable. People are upset at the lack of transparency, the unwillingess to even talk to the community, not to mention work with through this with them - you know, the very things that were promised as a foundation for this little venture? Instead we get lies and excuses that assume we're eight years old. You might be fine being treated as the product but again, this is solely your problem.

It doesn't matter if they "encouraged" anyone to upload here. Look, if you illegally upload a bunch of movies to Youtube, and somebody comes after Youtube, and the movies get taken down, you can't be mad at Youtube. No one made you put them up there. Take responsibility for your own actions.
That's just hillariously dishonest, but I'm seeing a pattern here... Youtube does not operate for the purpose of hosting paralegal content, unlike this site and many others. If you don't see the difference, then clearly NamiComi is the same as MangaDex, right? I think they'd strongly object to that, possibly in the legal sense - careful now, they supposed to take over around here, who are you going to simp for if they get upset with you?

Is mangadex dying? It's not like this is the first time they've removed series due to dmca, sure it was a lot this time but there are also a lot that weren't affected and the site is still up, so why not keep putting them here.
Scanlation is dying.

More and more japanese/chinese/korean authors are realizing they can get access to a very wide audience if they release their work in English, in an official format.

That means that there will fewer series every week, that can be hosted on here.

Commercialization and enshittification is the expected end result.

You have lived in the best times, as a manga reader. The next decade is going to be far far worse. Lots of different platforms and apps, to read stuff on.

So yes, mandagdex is dying. You have to go full pirate, or will have to soon enough, to read stuff like this.

One thing that surprised me about this chapter is that I assumed that Miko's father was roughly a decade older than Miko's mother from the way he was drawn (and the picture on the home shrine shows that he hasn't really "aged" visually as a ghost) but, if anything, the flashback shows Mamoru (Miko's future father) looking slightly younger than Touko (Miko's future mother).

Mom called her husband "chan". (p 18)

Okay, that's probably affectionate from when they first met. But, still... "chan"... For her husband?
It is affectionate, and right there in the raw. There's no rule for when you have to stop calling people "chan".
Couples calling one another using san or chan seems to be more a personal choice than anything.
