I suppose that mindset is why Japan's birthrate is so low, and probably why it's low elsewhere in the world, too. If young people come to believe they don't need marriage and children to be happy, they won't figure out they're unhappy until they're too old to conceive. It doesn't take a genius to figure out what comes next.

Work can be fulfilling, but spending your best years as a corporate slave isn't the road to happiness. People also don't seem to realize that you don't have to choose between family and a career, you can have both. You're essentially being presented with a false choise.

You can have both, but to excel in one means the other will suffer. One of them will have to be your priority.

Anyone else thinking that our male lead is a bit of a tsundere? He has feelings for her but because of the work relationship and age gap he won't act on them?

I wish the author made him like 42-45 or something around that range. 54 seems a bit excessive. Obviously, a 22 year gap is fine between 2 consenting adults but it is still a large gap nonetheless

Keep in mind the cost of rearing a child and how the younger generations are getting paid less than the one before and you have a recipe for disaster. :D

Regardless, enjoying this series. Hope we get a quality ending for this one. Axe-kun stay away.

the birthrate is low because people don't have the time or money to raise children. being happy without having children or being married is a very good thing, companies overworking and underpaying their employees to a point where they can't raise children or have time to do what they want is the bad thing, and the actual source of unhappiness
Not to mention, depending on where you are, women have super high standards that the majority of men can't meet, and the few men who do meet those standards don't need to be tied down to a woman when they could practically buy/rent them for a night. There's also the divorce rates with women taking more than half of the belongings, including child custody and the support that goes with it, and today's men don't want to take those chances-myself included.

Not hard to believe. My dad's 53, and if he's anything like he was when I saw him last year, his hair's still dark and covering most of his scalp to this day.

I mean...I'm not gonna say that the department manager wasn't being obnoxious and insensitive. But it feels like everything nowadays can be construed as sexual harassment. You're constantly walking on eggshells worried that even the most innocuous joke can get you in trouble with HR.

We wouldn't want "sexual harassment" to become a phrase that effectively means nothing just because too many people used it when they were ever-so-slightly uncomfortable or their feelings were a little hurt.

Thank you for the translation.
