It's worse than you might think, it shows in their severely declining birth rates.
The dude was right that for a society that values 'gender equality', the women are usually favored more, leaving more men in the dust.
Japan, and America for that matter, are still some of the most misogynistic world powers. I don’t know where you’re getting your information from other than “vibes” or manga (aka predominantly male-oriented fiction) but any favoritism in policy-making you might see is often the result of trying to course correct.
Women still make a fraction of the money of their male counterparts in the workplace and as this manga shows, men will completely go around women to try and decide their fate with other men.
The women-only trains in Japan aren’t because Japan favors women - they’re because sexually assaulting women is so common in Japan with so little if any legal ramifications and public shaming being essentially illegal from harsh defamation laws that the only modicum of protection they could think to offer to women so they don’t get molested in public is saying men can’t ride specific trains.
The perception that women receive more power or favor lately is only because women didn’t have ANY power or favor before this. Women couldn’t even own credit cards or open bank accounts in the US until 1974. There are still only 26/100 female senators in the US and only 28% of congress are women - which is still the highest it’s ever been. We still very much live in a male dominated society where men make laws for women with minimal representation of women.
Rather than be upset at the perceived disappearance of power and status quo, we ought to embrace the idea of our loved ones not being second class citizens just because our predecessors didn’t believe in a level playing field.
