Everyone in this series is fucked up. One family shattered by death, the other by betrayal. Dad's escaping into a world where he can be a hero by saving Koto. Daughter is coming back from her isolation to find out just how fucked she is. Koto's mom thinking she can control all aspects of her life. Koto is becoming as manipulative as her mother. I blame Koto and the daughter the least really. The adults should know better. The daughters are floundering and attaching themselves to the only people showing them any sort of positive attention.

@NonVoice Thank you. I think people misunderstand thinking we're defending the father. We're not or at least I'm not. I'm just calling out the people defending the daughter using the excuse that she's a teen. They're acting like Miya making no attempts to understand the father yet claiming they do and side with her while ignoring all the bullshit she's caused.

I can't even... The Daughter is trash. Like if she wasn't constantly spitting on their relationship the Father never would have got as far with the other girl since he isn't in absolute rock bottom. Like the second she ran away and disappeared she immediately lost all sympathy. 16 is an age where you are not a child. You are not an adult sure but your not an invalid, The Father is fucked but based on what i see is that before the coworker girl he had literally nothing except working to feed the dumb daughter who doesn't care even the slightest bit about him and only pretended to be Koto's friend since she doesn't care about her either it seems.

Now the father is an idiot, an understandable idiot but still a fool. He needs to stop fucking around with some young 16 year old jailbait and go back to his parent's and force his dumbass daughter along whether she likes it or not. Cause we all know she doesn't have any idea what shes doing, treat her like shes 4.

Leaving your kid behind to chase after her friend while telling her that you're in love with her friend.

Comment Section: "Why is Miya so ungrateful? Go die!"

Trash comments as usual.

@3ds1234 There's nothing to understand, really! What does Miya really need to understand about her dad that will justify him dating her teen friend he has known since she was a small child? It's icky on all levels, no matter what justification he has, and it's even illegal where he lives.

That's kind of like someone getting up in arms over you not trying to "understand" your uncle who got in trouble for touching children in their nono square even if the children didn't realize what they were doing was wrong, as if somehow understanding their issue would make what they did okay. Do you really need to understand the why here before you nope out of that?

Anything I say/said does no absolve Miya from being rash, stupid, foolish, or otherwise just kind of dumb. The difference is I expect children to be stupid and unable to handle their emotions. I expect adults who have children to understand that you don't fuck children. Especially you're children's friends.

But you don't get it, Miya was being difficult
We all know that every parent has, by law, the right to abandon their child if they're being annoying/irritating/not understanding of fucked up situations/etc in any way

Bunch of weirdos in bere 😄

Fwiw, the daughter hasn't gone back on her word yet. Koto's still got one person caring for her, so the promise to be a friend when Koto's all alone still holds.

But seriously, when a parent has been lost, the kids kinda need to accept that the remaining parent isn't going to put their love life permanently on hold. He may have picked the wrong person, but I get the feeling his daughter would be throwing this fit even if he picked the coworker. Miya wants attention, but on her terms. The way she's acting now, Miya wouldn't ever accept a step-mother, even when she's older.

Again not defending his actions just can't feel any sympathy for the daughter. In a way she is one of the reasons things ended up this way

@Rozzak What a shitty daughter. Imagine any child choosing their crush over their parent, ng, ng at all. Especially given his father's recent issues resulting from the death of his wife. Get ignored man.

The choking up makes sense to me. Idk imagining myself as a middle aged man and my daughter telling me he can't be with me because she gotta chase some delinquent she go to school with - like jfc I'd feel absolutely worthless and sick.

Nah dude choosing a girl choosing her boyf over her dad is pretty expected teenage girl behavior. Normal part of any father's life pretty much.

Finally a light at the end of this angsty manga? I kinda feel for daughter but, it's still a manga, hoping this ends well for dad and Koto.

@Ryrie You know, if he had gone out with some kouhai from work and Miya was reacting this way, I'd be right there with you man. I would even argue the "them or me" thing is a below the belt tactic.

But the fact that he's trying to bone some child and choosing that child over his responsibility as a parent is hard to dismiss. I mean then there's him helping perpetuate the child's mental health issues by declaring in no uncertain terms he is the only person who can save her and will do so by loving the shit out of her while she always thinks of the relationship in terms of control or be controlled instead of getting professional help and learning her mom was just a whack job and you should always be a free person without needing to find some herbivore old guy you think is "safer" than the alternative.

Here's my hot take: Miya doesn't feel bad about her mom's death.

She forces herself to be miserable and makes everyone else miserable because otherwise it would prove that she didn't feel bad after her mom died.
She's acting sad because otherwise it would mean she didn't love her mom. The problem is that there's no end to it if you do that.
That's why she's also avoiding any way of getting better.

She also resents her dad because he was able to heal instead of pretending forever like she has to do.

Ah yes the signs of being a great father, prioritizing an underage girl over your own daughter.
