Yeah, that's why I said that he was more experienced. But in fantasy stories, usually overpowered abilities win most of the time even if the user is a newbie. I expected him to get heavily ambushed here by them.

I mean, they already have won once against Walm by ambushing and overwhelming him with cheat powers. That's why Walm can't see from one of his eyes now. The big reason here is that despite his bloodlusted state, he is thinking much more clearly than the heroes. The boy hero is literally just a teenager that got transported to another world and told "by the way, go fight a war". He still feels conflicted about killing and now the scary guy he thought dead just came back from the grave and is holding his friend and a bunch of other people hostage. Walm may feel horrible about it afterwards, but this world's sensibilities rubbed off on him, he absolutely fucking will kill the wounded and the women in the lazaret if he needs to. The moment this turned into a hostage situation, Walm had the upper hand, the moment the hostage situation turned into a waiting game, he won. All he needed to do was not die until allies arrived.

I'm actually kinda surprised here, although Walm is experienced and more mature than the heroes, he made them look like light work. Hoping to see the aftermath, this manga takes a bit from berserk as a dark fantasy, which I quite like.

I thought the same, but i'm guessing his ignis fatus is in the same league or close to the heroes powers, plus his experience in dealing with people instead of monsters. Either this or the author just wanted Walm to look badass.

I think the knight made an ice wall for cover, but MC's explosion was strong enough to break the boy hero's arms AND shatter the ice, making it hit the girl hero/heroine.

The girl hero is the one that cast the ice wall, the clash between the demon fire and the holy strike caused an explosion which damaged the surroundings and the heroes.
The boy hero lost the exchange because he wasn't quick enough in fully casting the holy strike.

Artist is good at static scenes but sadly can't draw fights at all. The sequence of actions is nearly incomprehensible.

Aye , it's very hard to follow or understand .
Yet , I think it is kinda goes well into whole chaotic and grimmy war that author portrays .

I'm pretty sure Johanne broke the hero's arms by pulling him out of the way of Ignis Fatuus. There's a panel of her letting go of him when Walm says "why won't you all just die already?"
