Walm is an absolute menace when backed into a corner. His strategies become more ruthless, and he uses his own life as bait if needed - to call him scary is an understatement! Quite the victory, though!

Thanks for the translations, and even though I've never played a MH game, I'm a lover of greatswords in most RPG games! The extra reach compared to a standard sword, increased damage, and weight are great! Not as slow as greathammers or as viciously effective as spears or halberds, but damn, do I love cleaving through groups of enemies with greatswords!

:wooow: How would you make me a fan of your main, though?

I am curious about how will the MC side treat the Healer hero.

And I think we haven't got any more info about why they are at wars with each other? Since we mostly see things from the MC's POV.
You take POWs and make them work for you, ransom them back or incorporate them into your military force. Given her healing ability is OP if you can get her to work for you, you'll have quite an asset.

The opening chapters do set the story up. Give it a re-read.

Think of the Highserk Empire geographically situated in the center of the continent amongst several smaller territories. The Northern and Coastal territories are well developed and have good economies. The central territories often squabble over resources and as such military conflicts arise. Over a period of time the military aptitude of the Highserk people is honed and they start winning the conflicts with their neighboring territories incorporating them into their Kingdom. The larger kingdoms will not tolerate this upstart kingdom and try to destabilize it while making land grabs where they think they can. This only prompts the Highserk Empire to become aggressive to the outside actors. Which is how we ended up where we are now...

Edit - Chapter 1 has everything you need to know. The current conflict is over Kanoan territory that was seized and invaded by Myard and incorporated into it's kingdom by the Kanoan Grand Duke that had Myard blood. He requested Ferrius's help to do the land grab. When Highserk tried to reclaim the land (they had squabbled and "won" it previously) the Myard and Ferrius forces used scorched earth tactics to prevent the Highserk army from advancing. The first city you see Duwei company enter has a ton of emaciated people because of the Myard King's actions and it's noted that their hostility towards him is much higher than it is to the Highserk settlers who are housing and feeding them.

The relief in that last page is palpable, the adrenaline rush followed by your body slowly getting loose and heavy is very felt. I hope Walm is able to rise back up and become a leader with new subordinates.

Great way to end the chapter.

Peak. Also, that has to be a shit person to work for if he's purposefully cutting off body parts

We got the healer, but I doubt she'll cooperate. Worse thing is it's not like we can force her to heal people either. Gonna take time to flip her to Highserk's side.

My guess for why he made light work of them is because, before he got his powers he was just a regular soldier so he had to learn how to fight with such strong opponents with powers. Now, that he has not only got the same power as them, but he also has more experience with fighting such opponents it's easier for him to beat tme with such ease.

The Heroes probably had their powers since the beginning and just used them to overwhelm their opponents. (that's just my guess)
I'd say mentality was another big issue. Walm was losing until he resolved himself to spare nobody and started killing bystanders. The heroes? They've never had an actual battle in their life, and a dude with fire that kills basically everyone, who you were supposed to assassinate, has just wiped out your forces, ambushed you, and taken your comrade hostage.

They're not thinking too clearly during all this
