Man, she really can't accept that a country that isn't one of the already established super powers is so much more technologically advanced than her own nation. All because they're in a less developed zone than them. When countless times, she's had the chance to verify it herself. Watch her do something incredibly stupid and have Mu wage war on them too.

There was an RRL fanfic of this story called Summoning America. Where the US decided to use a little gunboat diplomacy and park an entire carrier fleet off their coast when making diplomatic contact.
She... doesn't make any better decisions there too.
I don't share your negative outlooks. I bet they all got jobs in mining, quarrying, forestry or some other labour-intensive sector, for life. The old man's probably cured from his hypochondria and joyfully mining coal with all the other vagrants picked off the streets.
Man, Drilltits McGee is a good caricature on why they don't sell commissions to be a military officer no more. She has a mental model of the strategic situation, but instead of working through recent, unexpected events, she'd much rather blame subordinates and shriek at Mu's ambassador while wearing a tinfoil hat.

Tbh the geography-based prejudice makes sense in lore. Here's what a novel reader said in another chp's comments:
This world used to have a global magitek empire that collapsed. The development "zones" are based on the concentration of research/archives facility's density each zones have. The more research remnants are left in your territory, the more advanced your country will be at the time Japan teleports here. Undeveloped places like Altaras had little to no research remnants and therefore was stuck with medieval tech.
While global trade could theoretically facilitate the transfer of tech and by extension the global equalization of tech lvls like our world, the advanced nations actively block the transfer of tech due to a view that tech can be dangerous as evidenced by the fall of the global magitek empire. Not that tech transfers arent used as times as a political tool/proxy war shenanigans.
^and thats why the geography-based development zones makes sense in lore. Remille's methods arent as savvy as Elto and Kaios, but her intentions are only as incompetent as our average politicians. Her headspace right now is the same as a 2023 US president hearing multiple reports stating that Papua New Guinea has 10th gen fighter jets, nuclear-fueled loitering munitions, hovering electric railgun tanks, and networked infantry power armor.
As for the chances to verify... I would like to point at the legend of Michael Wittmann to demonstrate that even our world's WW2 Britain keeps piss poor field reports. Even assuming Parpaldia maintains decent field records, all Japanese attacks so far has been a campaign of surgical strikes like how the US crippled Iraq's (or was it Syria?) entire chain of command, power and comms infrastructure all within a few hours. The most reliable reports Parpaldia would have at this point is a few testimonies from shellshocked survivors who somehow floated/limped back to friendly lines.
Editv69: Alright, Japan isnt exactly secretive about what their toys are capable of since translated encyclopedias are exported freely. But expecting Remille, Kaios, and Elto to research Japan before declaring war is like asking the British/French empire to conduct geographical ethnic/religious surveys to draw country borders that doesnt cause lasting border tensions.
Iirc a novel reader mentioned Holy Milishial Empire as being more advanced than Mu. He also mentioned several other nations more advanced than Milishial and Mu but it's not quite clear by how much.
So yeah, very plausible a USA equivalent exists in this world
