Hmmm. There could be several reasons why the "old" body was in the middle of the mountains. Kidnapped and dumped, lost, escaping/fleeing something etc. But yea i see your point. Thanks for reminding me.

I didnt think so at first, but it seems this series demands a reread as small details can be more important then one thinks. And with slow release schedules it gets kinda tough.

Well, isnt this world from a game MC played? What if he inherited his characters power but got this "body". That is, the powers and mind are "his" the body "hers"?

In Chapter 2 they scanned MC and confirmed that she's "Susie" and a "Transmigrator". In addition, they've already said it wasn't the first time mysterious people appeared in that forest--and those people turned out to be heros from another world.

The character background MC wrote for Susie was that she was "raised by her grandfather and siblings not related by blood" so if he's truly in the same game world its not impossible that they exist and she can meet them. But it's unlikely that Susie is Lavie since I feel like a lot more people in the town should have recognized her (and know how ridiculously strong she is).

I realize the manga is supposed to establish a few premises but it does so in a very painfully slow way...
The MC is this overpowered warrior/mage but...she/he is stuck doing next to nothing other than have people faun over her...I don't mind it that much but the author could afford to "push" the mundane parts faster, and not devote so many chapters like that...
Imagine if in a manga like Demon slayer, we had multiple chapters of Tanjiro trying to pick up knitting.

Well that’s what happens with adaptations, you can skip stuff and be harassed by the OG readers or people that want as much detail as possible, or you don’t skip stuff and risk having bad pacing for the new medium.
¯\(ツ)

So far the pacing is fine for me, the release schedule is much more detrimental. There are other Novel adaptations that had some serious droughts of nothing happening besides characters yapping. (Looking at you “Moon-led journey across another world”)
But the comment sections are full of people praising the world building and glazing the MC.

It’s complicated. :korone:

But oddly enough, Howard didn't make any remark on her looks even though he must have also known the person called Lavie. No one else in the village seems to know her either so it doesn't seem that Lavie was an inhabitant of this village. If she was, then Lavie may have been older since the children didn't know of any child looking like Susie.

Actually he does, but either the adaptation is off or the translation is lacking. The one panel where he says "You..." when she picks him up is supposed to be him thinking she is Lavi. Here's how the scene goes in the novel:

The moment the voice echoed out, Howard’s breathing stopped for a moment.

In that fleeting moment, he thought he recognized someone in that person.

(…! It can’t be! Lavi?! H-How is this possible?!!)

There's also the fact that Howard and Sonia just happen to have clothes in Susie's size laying around for her to wear...

...though the novel does also mention that while Susie looks nearly identical to Lavi, her eyes and hair are slightly different shades of green and red from Lavi's.

No. Entirely new world that doesn't run on game mechanics. In fact the reason Susie is so OP is that her powers are doing what the description text says they do rather than the mechanical stats. Like the spell that destroyed the mountain was an AOE fire spell that does X damage to Y targets. But the descriptive text essentially says it summons a small sun to vaporize your enemies. So when she cast it, a small sun suddenly appeared and obliterated everything on the other side of the mountain and the top of the mountain itself instead of the more normal AOE fire spell she was expecting.

This is, of course, all established in the 11 chapter prologue that the manga skipped.

I have to disagree at this point. I think your forgetting this is only chapter 5, most mangas take more than 5 chapters before anything major really happens. At this point they are all setting the stage, world building and such. Well the good stories are at least.

Sounds like s/he reincarnated into an existing body rather than just appearing in the world somewhere, but that doesn't quite track with how he showed up wearing his characters in-game equipment.

Or this guy lost somebody that kinda looks similar.

MC seems like a child now. Before she had idk, maybe mid-to-late teenage vibes

But that's the thing...It's not the lack of action that bothers me, it's rather the pointless drawing of scenes that don't really matter and could be easily done away with in the form of "montage time skip".
I mean what's the point of the bully kid ? To show us that the MC who tore down the summit of a mountain and killed monsters like it's nothing is faster than a 6 year old ? or for the gratuitous pantyshot?
It's small things like that, that feel unnecessary and slow down the plot that I find a bit pointless.

It's one thing to "set the stage" in order to tell a good story(something that's more needed in a non-graphic novel, and another to include all these little details in a graphic novel. Because by the time you've "set the stage" most of the "audience" have long left "the theater" ending up with an axed manga.
And I WANT to see what this manga has to offer, before some publicist decides that "it does not bringing in the sales we want".

I mean...it made all the other kids interested and amazed at Susie's reflexes when the kid tried to pull her hair from behind. So it did serve a purpose.

It wasnt to show US what we already know but to show the characters who we can assume are going to stick around who have no idea yet.

The trouble is that this is what the story has to offer. It's primarily a slice of life story about Susie settling in to this town and learning about the world, and then deciding her place in it. They can't skip over all of this with a montage because all of this is the story.

There'll be an action climax to the first novel volume, and the second novel volume has a bunch more action, but it's not an action story at its heart. Personally I like it and find Susie working to find her place in this world pretty charming, but it's certainly not going to be for everyone, and definitely looks like a more action-heavy story at first. (It doesn't help that the manga skipped the prologue which is 11 chapters if Susie blowing shit up fighting monsters in the forest).

Oooh its not a "new" body :oooo:
Well his character has got to have some kind of backstory
The name not matching is weird though
The plot thickens.
Also, that kid playing with fire. On a side note, no one was informed about how strong MC is? Cause, I could see that being a huge problem in practical tests/classes.

Thanks for the TL
Do you accidentally smash a kids ribs to pieces when you pick them up? no? oh wow no way you can control you strength thats wild

Well, we've known about her resembling someone else since the first chapter; Sonia called her Lavie upon first seeing her: https://mangadex.org/chapter/0be4340c-9a6c-4601-9b14-0c1ef78621b5/18 So this is the second time someone thinks she looks like Lavie.

But yeah, I doubt she's reincarnated in someone else's body in the middle of the mountains. I mean, if this Lavie passed away, I expect they would have held a funeral. This new person seems quite certain that she can't be Lavie even if she looks like her. Well hopefully we'll learn who this Lavie actually is in the next chapter.
Good catch, I didn't notice that.

Just started reading the WN (5 chapters in so far), and it appears that the manga is outright cutting some of the more OP stuff.

Within the first two chapters MC finds out
she can use most things from the game - mob radar, inventory, guild and personal warehouses, and ... ALL OF THE SKILLS from ALL of her alts.
