Agree. Most gender swap mangas are male to female and as you said, a vehicle for cheap gags. Nothing wrong with that, if that is what you're into, but if you've witnessed, ninety five percent or more end up following the same old patterns: MC is initially horrified, parents (if they aren't absent) are delighted, slice of life experiences after the change begin to create a new normal for the MC, and in the end the MC chooses to stay female, even in those rare instances when he's offered his original gender back. Lastly, in the extremely rare gender swap mangas where the woman is turned into a man, they are not comedic but are gender dysphoric, the MC never adjusts to the new normal, and in the end, gets changed back to her original gender. A bit more originality were the MC was not forced but chose willingly to become gender swapped, would not be such a bad thing to read every once in a while. Just saying.
