Here it looks like they're both properly learning from their mistakes and going out of their way to reassure each other after a fight. Even with the constant dumb bickering (that seems to be getting weaker and less frequent) they have a very healthy way to dealing with conflict and resolving it.

With how they both actively go out of their way to fix their issues Im expecting something serious happened that drove a wedge between them. Absent such an event they gravitate towards each other way too much for that bickering to be what broke tue marriage

I don't know if I would say it's "going too far" like, what difference does it make why they are dismissed from the story. They aren't important enough for it to matter.
