I remember the spirit dog guiding Liam but was it able to also affect reality? Well, here it's shown it definitely can.

i thought it was implied (if not outright confirmed) that it's basically the same kind of creature as the Guide now? (just like, inverted?) while the Guide draws his strength from negative emotions, the more Liam accidentally makes everyone love him, the stronger our good boy gets (while the guide just gets humiliated repeatedly)

though i do wonder if the dog just enabled auto-pilot or whatever, or if we're gonna get a reveal like "the Avid is actually sentient now lol (and in love with Liam lol)" since making the world love him seems to be the dog's MO

edit: nvm just got my theory confirmed, however loosely. shoulda read the whole thread first lol

Oops... Avid doesn't have the machine heart yet. The dog is basically possessing object(s) and influencing Liam's reality in his favor. But yes, Avid is basically tied to Liam's flagship and wherever Liam goes to fight a major battle, the Avid is always nearby.
As for the consciousness/sentience of Avid?

Avid will attain sentience after this arc and develop itself steadily, but almost purely as a fighting machine trying imitate its master.

Honestly, punishment for infighting is so satisfying. In how many series there is behaviour ranging from annoying to fatal brushed off for comedic effect. So satisfying.

huh, seems spirt dog is a counter balance to the guides meddling. that's actually nice karma and all that... ya know if the guide had a bit of clarity then he should instead make everything go perfect to a point so our mc here would willingly put themselves into dangerous positions outta boredom.

a sorta glue trap approach, get mc into totally safe ruins and oh noes the rust bucket guards that were just statues suddenly come online with the security system also bolting them in. couple that with a pirate ambush/sabatoge that cripples the ship and you got a recipe for death by starvation add in manipulation of mcs vassals back home into acts of corruption and even if mc does get home you still dealt a nasty blow that will take time to fix and be a minor source of despair.

Just binge reread the whole thing, lmao. Yeah, this series is so much better if you binge it. Because certain things take quite a few chapters to unfold or pay off. If you don't remember what happened a few months ago, it's all over for you.

Also, I really do like all his retainers, and major side characters. It's somewhat similar to Journey Under Moonlight; where MC's retainers are actually what drive the plot forward.

Now with both Tia and Marie stripped of their positions... who's gonna replace them instead (temporarily) ?

That's the point, as much as Liam's proven himself to be a beast he would have at least suffer horribly from the Guide's intervention, he's living on normal-hard mode thanks to the doggo.
