Well, when I was searching the second light novel months ago, I remember founding some japanese webstores with critics, and some of them were actually shitting on the autor and the light novel (but I think that it were just like 2 or 3 comments)
I can't really answer your question, but I think that there are two consistent methods to sell your manga:
It’s hard to tell. After the abhorrent chapter 46 was released, I did some research on the novel to try to understand why the author basically ruined the story in the second volume. I'd argue we're well past the "turning into" phase, and this chapter was the final nail in the coffin for being telenovela slop.This is slowly turning into a telenovela slop... It's as if it's designed to piss me off. While this drama is escalating Hanabi is getting offscreened by blackbeard.

Ok, I'll just assume you all live in rather civilized cities far from that type of danger but the key thing about this kind of crime is that the perpetrator is never alone and set up a trap. Victim gets drugged and then someone appears saying it's a friend or relative of the victim and tell the bar/place that the person is just too drunk and will pay their part. Then they'll get the victim out of the place and put in a car or hotel already booked (with fake names/ids and such), take all their valuable stuff and throw the person away or leave at the hotel to deal with the hotel expenses. You can see Nanao called someone to confirm everything went as planned so she had help.

yeah, that makes more sense, i had totally forgot about him since that whole story about Hanabi prostituting herself was just for shock value and then abandoned by the author.
