Like how you can talk about fruit-flavored candy without specifying the fruit.

If I had to guess, probably cola or ramune, those are the two most common soda-inspired flavors I've seen for Japanese candies.

Yeah "Suki da yo" = "I like you" but then he follows up with "Soda Aji" so it change from "I like you" to "I like soda flavour"

So she hears "I like you" before he follows it up, that's why she gets flustered, she jumped the gun and misunderstood what he was saying before he finished

it's one of the complex ways Japanese sentence structure works with contexts
