An extra point that I haven't seen the novel address yet.

Regardless of the magic cancer growing in them, this accelerated growth can't be good for their lifespan. How old could MC really live, at this pace?

Slaver lady should have called for a ref, cus someone jumping into your hurricane spell, ridding it and aura farming is so damn foul.

With how many injuries she is sustaining i'm surprised her face and body are not covered in scars.
manga magic
More like "fantasy game" magic.
Even resurrection is not impossible with some potion and some healing spell. Well, the purpose is exactly that. So the player can heal quickly without permanent damage. No one want to be hospitalized and go through rehab when playing a game. Especially if she is the main heroine of an eroge for girls.

Ok, now I miss the stupid comments on the final credits page, no coomerbait slop? Sad!
I was thinking the same. Also enraging moral paladins is always fun.

The author should have made longer time skips. She doesn't seem like nine years old at all. Maybe I could believe the 12, with how tough a life she has lived. Of course she has all that magic and other fantasy boosts helping her, allowing her to beat adults, so there is that. Though this is not 100% consistent either. Sometimes she looks older, sometimes younger. If you consider this chapter alone, her height difference compared to adults most certainly wouldn't make me guess 9, no chance. I'd even say 14, though there are always individuals who begin to grow really early toward their final height, but maybe 9 would still be a stretch.
When kids develope magic they get accelerated growth, it was already said and repeated multiple times. :pout:

She really looks cuter with short hair. Also, not eviscerating that boy? She's getting softer.

Her age makes no sense at this point. I think the author drove himself into a corner by making everything happen way too fast. At the start she looked and behaved like a small child, but by now she's acting with a maturity that would require her to be at least 15/16 years old.
She got a lot of "knowledge" from that woman who tried to implant her personality into her.
Also being a "game world" a lot of things depend purely from her stats and level.

I'd say her emotional age is, weird. She does have the memories from the magic stone, giving her memories of someone that grew up twice. So she should have a good understanding of emotions. However she clearly doesn't have a good understanding of her own emotions. Her emotional understanding of other people should be, or at least include aspects, of an adult or possible an elder. Her emotional understanding of herself on the other hand may instead be stunted, at least in part. Both trauma and relying on someone else's understanding, could cause issues.

That said the person who's memories she has been relying on was not exactly the most mature. All the more reason why I think her emotional age is weird, being warped by a bunch of factors. Her mental age in other ways is also pretty warped, as she in general really.
Trying to make sense of the psychology of a growth accelerated girl with the knowledge of an old woman from another dimension is a pointless task. Let's just say that this is Aria, and that's Aria's psychology.

She's such a badass.
I'm always happy whenever I see this updated in my updates list.
It is so difficult to have badass fantasy heroines that are actually heroines and not gender swapped dudes (seriously, what the hell is with this trope? :win: ) and are actually the real protags instead of their companion, or their swords, or whatever from anoter world. This manga really is a blessing.

What wasn't mentioned is what the hell did she do with all those kidnapped kids if she did this 3 times already? did she send them to the guild? the guards? not the orphanage because then she would need to give a hefty donation too.
I was wondering that myself. Hopefully they'll tell us what she did with them.

Because it's magic, not cancer, it actually extends lifespan, to an extent. Because magic power supports and strengthens the body. If you obtain elemental magic you get an elemental magic stone growing in your heart. That magic stone increases your magic power, and thus increases growth. However it's also a literal stone in your heart. Having two is safe and is entirely more beneficial to physical ability due to magic supporting the body. Three in humans will reduce potential athletic ability, and seems to be the safe limit in both humans and elves. Four starts reducing lifespan, significantly impacting athletic ability, especially if gained as a child, and can make pregnancy dangerous for a woman. Four doesn't seem to reduce the lifespan of an elf on its own, but with other factors it can cause significant health issues. Five causes a considerably reduced lifespan. Carla looked over historical texts and found that no one with all six elements has lived past thirty.

The basics of that have been explained by this point in the LN, but not in specific detail. Most of that information comes from Carla, as well as Aria's teacher, and a senile old woman that hasn't been introduced yet in the manga. Though some of it doesn't come from the senile old woman so much as information surrounding her where we get more detail on how it affected her development and life.

I could go over that in more detail, but in general magic power improves health, but magic stones in your heart is bad. And there is a crossover point where the magic stone's magic power doesn't make up for the blockage anymore.

there's definitely a tipping point.
Her mentor had multiple affinities of magic and the stones that developed within her have fucked her up fairly badly to the point she can't fight anymore.
The "murder magic princess" has a clock of maybe a couple years left, give or take, though that could be as much a factor of the severe trauma & abuse of all the experimentation - but the extra chapter also stated that a good part of that was the fact she was (artificially) imbued with all variants of magic to high degrees, and that's what's effectively going to kill her, so.

I imagine there's a threshold wherein if you're on this side, you'll get magic power and accelerate your growth, but otherwise live more-or-less the same. But the line between that and diminishing returns on your DNA telomeres is probably very thin, and impossible to accurately predict.

Since @BoredTears beat me to it with actual info from the LN, I'll just leave all of the above intact as my guess at how literal stones developing in the heart tissue would affect the body.

It being magic would understandably augment the body's function, which makes sense if a threshold isn't crossed into too many stones - and I have to imagine that the level of overall mana within the body would start to put strain on things at the cellular level over enough time.
Maybe that's represented by the 'threshold number of stones', in addition to the fact that too many "tumor-esque" growths in an important organ muscle would make its usual function more difficult (even assuming the stones always appear in a "non-vital point", like valves or arterial walls blocking blood flow, and whatnot).

the granularity of the LN for the mechanics of the world is honestly impressive.
Thinking about how magic and mana interact with the physiology of the body isn't something you see everyday - as well as the "repercussions" of gaining too much power and how that can affect your lifespan and your day-to-day health.

Very interesting stuff, especially with how "grounded" it is, in terms of how you'd expect these things to actually function in a realistic manner.

There are also some other things in the story that affect lifespan. Mainly "gifts" from spirits, depending on their nature. Gifts from spirits usually reduce lifespan, more so when used. Because those gifts are powers beyond what a human's body and soul can handle. However the story has only vaguely talked about that at this point, mainly back when it explained appraisal, and that there is a gift version that is far better but a known case of it was a guy who was paranoid and used it to the point that it drastically reduced his lifespan. Mind you the martial techniques are also technically gifts from spirits, but to all people, and they don't reduce lifespan when used, as they don't exceed the power a human can handle.

I love how mister translator was so busy with his test that he wrote credit paeg as credit page thanks to rushed typo. Add to it his obsession to aria, and you can even read it as credit PEG.

She should have spent more time with the rogue adventurer, the battle maids and her elf teacher so she would be older by now instead of explaining it with magic grown or whatever.
Comedy option: The author knew exactly what they were doing because they hoped to confuse the hell out of people trying to figure out if it's okay to find her hot or not.
