So hyped to hear this is getting an anime. I’ve loved both the novel and manga so far so I’m looking forward to it!

It was explained from the beginning. The way they gain magic is it causes a crystal to grow in their heart what accelerates their growth to accommodate the crystal growing larger as their magic becomes more powerful. This is why people with 4 types of magic become physically weaker as it starts putting to much strain on the heart like the princess. Also why Karla (sp) is basically nearly dead as she has crystals for all magic types.

I honestly think this is gonna be the one sticking point anime only will hav e and get hung up on.

Well, my daughter I abused and didn't even pretend to care for is incredibly powerful now, but she has a short lifespan. Maybe I should use her emotional dependency to keep her calm until this walking bomb isn't a threat anymore? Nah, the fact that she will die eventually clearly means that she isn't a threat right now.

They didn't really explicitly say what had happened, but they did show the orphan girl picking up a fragment of the crystal and then having a kind of manic smile. Forget the chapter number.
