Sorry for the delay! There was a lot more text this time

Also, yeah Rank 5 is a whole different game. anyone/anything who reaches that is basically recognized by the world and given insane power

Also also, let me know if you spot any typos

So, I know that spending all this time weakening the enemy forces played a significant part...

But... Like... The bit of "I'm out of time, can't delay their advance anymore" loses all of its impact when she then makes "delaying their advance" moot by killing them all by herself anyway

I'm going to stall them for a month to allow for the evacuation! Wait, no, I should just make the evacuation unnecessary. If she can do that, what was all the tension for?!

Murdering sapient beings isn't something to take lightly. But there's a difference between low effort and high effort, in that once you start killing, you better make sure everyone is dead. Otherwise you might be calling down something worse.

Aria is an absolute nightmare to have as an enemy.
Slowly poisoning her enemies over the course of weeks and then when they finally realise what is happening she kills 90% of them in their sleep and forces the survivors to watch as one of their leaders dies a horrific death to a deadly acidic poison and their general keeps hitting your comrades as the enemy drags them into being her shields.
Batman goes easier on psychological attacks than Aria does.

The ln explains it a bit better but it would take 5 more days for the evacuation to finish and the orcs were going to March out the following morning. She had certainly delayed them, but wouldn’t be able to do so once they started moving out. Her only choice was to whittle down their numbers or outright exterminate them while they still slept.

Part of it is understanding just how dangerous they would be to the villagers even as they currently are.

Part of it is being unable to run away with a rank 5 chasing you.

Part of it is greed to want the solo exp of slaying a rank 5, letting her hide her full kit from the rest of the world.

Well done my girl!

But honestly is it necessary to go that far? Didn't villager already retreat, best you can do is just slow down until adventure arrives, why bother go kill all?
Last chapter ended with mc saying it’d take 5 more days to evacuate the villagers and the orcs are heading out tomorrow

yeah that’s a pretty big part of it too lol

I don't think the abandoned village was ever referred to as "Oak" before. Are you sure it's not "Orc"?
haha you’re right. That seemed weird to me but I figured it was just a name they mentioned once that I forgot about. I fixed it

I was kinda wondering if there'd be some surprise from the General.
As she went around merc'ing orcs, they started having more and more....I guess "emotional" reactions to what was happening to them. Props to the artist on that front; there was a real visceral fear and anxiety in their expressions, like the lone orc on p.37.
That sort of "human-ness" had me thinking there might be more to what's going on--even as they represent a real threat to both Aria and the evacuating refugees, this is still a community of sentient beings who cooperate and look after one another.

The Level 5 Entity being of a caliber that they can even communicate with Aira really pushes just how complex this world might be. When even the monsters potentially have hopes and dreams and fears and grudges, it raises that moral ambiguity in a drastic way.

Unfortunately, Aira will kill anyone and everyone to achieve her goals and to stay alive, so simply appealing to some shared sapient sense of "why do you seek to harm us" isn't likely to stop her. It does make everything more interesting, but...they're still after the humans, so without a very compelling reason that would directly & greatly benefit Aria, I don't think this changes much in any practical sense.

Thanks for the TL and effort.
