I've also realized that we see the beginning of the duel in chapter 1. So it's not a spoiler to say that Leon faces off Pierre without any armor, as planned.

Incorrect. In the original game, the heroine did not have a sister, hence Leon's and Marie's confusion as to who the actual heroine is. This is an important plot point. The villainess of the game is Louise, this is already confirmed.

As such what should've happened is that either they all could group up on him or one of them would have to 1v1 him, not fight each other.

they are doing the exact opposite of prioritizing the Sacred Tree's safety, in fact they are actively endangering it by assaulting and provoking foreign high nobility and a foreign nation's hero whom has the wealth, status, military power and authority of a minister of that nation. They're asking for war, not non-interference or co-operation. The whole "steal his fiancé" thing doesn't make any sense either, the tree has an effective range limit, how the fuck is he gonna steal Angie without getting executed the moment he steps onto Holfort land. The range limit also means their nation's only real option in a war is defense as their ships are reliant on its's wireless energy field so there's absolutely 0 benefit in going to war as they wouldn't be able to reliably keep territory without a full military and economic restructuring.
