Yeah, I think you're right about not having it vertically. I often find it annoying too, and I'd much rather have large words broken up, even if kind of awkwardly.
Though, ime, with a mobile it seems like it'd be 'easier', it has always annoyed me in practice, because if I rotate the device to read it, it will often change orientation. Which, yes, then the text is 'the right way', but not really as the device is now turned, at least partially. 🤦♂️
Of course you can turn this off on many devices, and some don't have as much of an issue until you like completely turn it, but I've found it far more to be annoying in waaay more instances, instead of helpful. And I use the different orientation multiple times, so I'd be turning it off for like that one page, then back on when done. And over and over whenever switching from reading to other stuff.
So now I usually try to slightly turn the device--just enough to not quite trigger a screen change, and then slightly tilt my head to kind of 'meet in the middle' 😂
Sorry, guess that has annoyed me more than I realized and I guess it was nice to vent to someone who seems to agree. 🍻
Anyway, yeah, I appreciate your approach 🤣👍
